North Posey VS South Vermillion Sectional 39 Game Recap
The North Posey Vikings fell in a heartbreaker to South Vermilion, 38-36, in the opening round of the sectional playoffs. Despite a valiant effort, the Vikings could not hold off the Wildcats, who sealed the game with a 15-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Dom Garzolini to Parker Weir as time expired.
For North Posey, the standout performer was senior running back Jed Galvin, who capped off his high school career with an outstanding performance. Galvin carried the ball 31 times for 178 yards and scored all five of the Vikings’ touchdowns. He also added a reception for 20 yards and successfully executed a two-point conversion pass to Dylan Murphy. Galvin also extended his career rushing yards in his final high school game to break 5000 yards and extend the school record.
The Vikings conclude their season with a 7-3 record, bowing out in the sectional opener against a tough opponent. Although the loss is disappointing, North Posey can take pride in a hard-fought game and a successful season. The team will now look forward to developing its younger talent, as several freshmen and sophomores showed promise throughout the year. With Galvin and other seniors moving on, the Vikings’ youth will play a critical role in the team's future, as they aim to build on this season’s success in the years to come.
