North Posey Lady Vikings Basketball Recap VS Wood Memorial 11-16-24
The North Posey Lady Vikings secured their first win of the season with a hard-fought 52-47 victory over the Wood Memorial Lady Trojans. North Posey established early control, leading 15-7 after the first quarter and extending their advantage to 26-16 at halftime. They built their largest lead at 38-25 in the third quarter, but Wood Memorial surged late, cutting the deficit to one point at 44-43. Despite the challenge, North Posey held on to seal the win.
The Lady Vikings' offensive effort was led by Alyssa Heath, who scored a game-high 19 points, including seven clutch free throws in the second half. Ella Weatherholt added 11 points, her second consecutive game with double figures, while Elle jo Johnson contributed 10 points. Additional scoring came from Mallory Luigs (7), Addie Murphy (3), and Kyleigh Bender (2).
Wood Memorial was paced by Katie Sevier with 18 points, 12 of which came in the second half. Bailey Schoonover chipped in 16 points, with Addy Phillips (7), Berkleigh Collins (4), and Mylee Rhoden (1) rounding out the scoring for the Lady Trojans. Despite closing the gap with a late 8-0 run and outscoring North Posey in both the third and fourth quarters, Wood Memorial was unable to overcome their early deficit.
The win improves North Posey’s record to 1-1 on the season, while Wood Memorial falls to 2-2. This victory also marked the first win for Kevin Kolb as the new head coach of the Lady Vikings, making it a memorable night for the team.
