North Posey Lady Vikings Basketball Recap VS Gibson Southern 11-15-24

In an electric season opener, the North Posey Lady Vikings showed grit and determination, pushing defending 3A state champions Gibson Southern to the brink before narrowly falling 57-53 in a hard-fought contest.

The Lady Vikings came out strong, leading 16-14 after the first quarter and extending their advantage to 30-27 at halftime. North Posey’s disciplined play and team-wide contributions kept them ahead for much of the game, even building a lead as large as 11 points. However, Gibson Southern stormed back with a pivotal 11-0 run late in the third quarter, flipping the momentum. By the end of the third, the Titans had edged ahead 44-42 and held the lead for the remainder of the game.

Despite the loss, North Posey delivered an inspiring performance, with every player who took the court contributing to the scoreboard. The Vikings were led by three double-digit scorers: Alyssa Heath, Ella Weatherholt, and Addie Murphy, each tallying 11 points. Mallory Luigs added 8 points, Jazz Ward chipped in 5, Kylie Bender had 4, and Ellie Joe Johnson rounded out the scoring with 3 points.

For Gibson Southern, Gabby Spink was a dominant force, scoring a game-high 26 points. Nola Ravelette added 13 points before fouling out, while Lydia Mauer (8), Paige Schnaus (5), Lauren Adamson (3), and Molly Spindler (2) rounded out the scoring for the Titans.

Although the Lady Vikings came up short, their strong showing against the reigning state champions is a promising sign for the season ahead. With the intensity and teamwork displayed tonight, North Posey is poised for a successful campaign.
