Mount Vernon VS Southridge Sectional 32 Game Recap

The Mount Vernon Wildcats faced a challenging matchup against the South Ridge Raiders, ultimately falling 55-35 in the opening round of Class 3A Sectional 32. The game, held at Raider Field, saw South Ridge jump out to an early lead with their quarterback, Justin Leathers, scoring twice in the first quarter. Mount Vernon responded with a touchdown by Easton Hall, narrowing the score to 14-7, but the Raiders continued their dominance, adding another touchdown to extend their lead to 21-7 by the end of the first quarter.

Despite a strong effort from Mount Vernon's offense, including multiple touchdowns from Nash Hostetter and Easton Hall, the Wildcats struggled to contain South Ridge's rushing attack. Even though the Wildcats showed resilience, especially with Hostetter’s impressive 63-yard touchdown reception, they couldn't close the deficit, and South Ridge kept answering back with scores.

Statistically, Mount Vernon put up an impressive fight, amassing over 300 yards of offense and scoring 35 points against a tough South Ridge defense. Quarterback Ryder Snodgrass connected well with his receivers, and the Wildcats managed to keep the game competitive. However, South Ridge's dominant ground game proved too much for the Wildcats to overcome. The season ends for Mount Vernon with this hard-fought but ultimately challenging sectional matchup.
