Family Matters of Posey County is still in search of Bell Ringers. Volunteers are needed at both Family Matters and The Salvation Army. You can register online at www.registertoring.com. 

 

North Posey High School is hosting a Parents’ Night Out this Saturday. Any kids ages 3 years through 6th grade are invited. Drop off the kids for a fun night from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM. There will be games, crafts, music, movies, and dinner. It is 30 dollars per child and 25 dollars for siblings. The event is sponsored by the Class of 2025. Please register in advance. Mt. Vernon is having their Christmas on Main Street this Friday evening. The Christmas Parade will start at 7:00 PM and the Christmas Tree lighting will follow at 7:50 PM. There are a few more events planned for Saturday as well. At 9:00 AM there is the Christmas Character Breakfast. Then from 12:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Saturday, it’s the Kid’s Christmas Party. Food Trucks will be available, along with music and fun. At 5:00 PM there will be a Christmas Movie at Amphitheater. During this time, you can round up at the Dairy Queen in Mt. Vernon and the proceeds will go to Christmas on Main Street.

 

Ivy Tech Community College Evansville is again providing free laptops for new students enrolling for the Spring 2023 semester, while supplies last. Officials say enrollment is currently underway and eight-week classes begin on January 17 and March 20. To qualify for a free laptop, students who would like to start in January or March must first apply and enroll in classes. Ivy Tech officials ask for people to call 812-492-0106 for additional information.

 

There's a new option for coffee, donuts, and more on Evansville's west side. Officials with Donut Bank announced the opening of their new west side location yesterday. The new location is open now at 4800 W. Lloyd Expressway. Hours of operations run from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Sports: 

- Mt. Vernon Boys Basketall (1-2) lost at Mt. Carmel, 61-57. The Wildcats will host Central Saturday evening. 

- Mt. Vernon Girls Basketball (1-8) fell at Mater Dei, 57-22. MV is home against Boonville Saturday afternoon. 

- Mt. Vernon Wrestling lost a dual match with Heritage Hills at home, 45-24. 

- North Posey Boys Basketball (2-2) earned a 69-58 win at home against Day School. The Vikings will be home again on Friday against Heritage Hills. 

- North Posey Girls Basketball (5-2) dropped a game at Southridge, 40-30. NP is home tomorrow night against Washington. 

- From Men's College Basketball #17 Illinois (7-2) defeated #2 Texas, 85-78 in OT.
