If you've ever thought about a career in law enforcement, your opportunity may be soon as the Indiana State Police looks to hire more troopers. Indiana State Police Sgt. Seth Rainey says that the last couple of years there’s been some different challenges in getting the number of applicants where they need to be. He says they are hoping to hire up to 150 troops this year. In order to help assist with that need, an event is coming to Evansville that shines a light on the selection process and provides information on ISP. This will give applicants a good preview on what they can expect, and if the career is a good fit for them. ISP says a good applicant must have integrity and an attitude of service for the community they will serve. Families are welcome to attend, and ISP says they are looking forward to the event and meeting the next generation of troopers. The event will take place at the CK Newsome Center on Saturday, December 17th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

The 2024 Ohio Valley Conference Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championship will continue to be held at Ford Center in Evansville. Officials with the OVC confirmed the news on their Facebook page. They say the tournament will mark the 7th year in a row that the event will be held at the venue. Beginning this season, the University of Southern Indiana will have the opportunity to compete in the championship tournaments at the Ford Center. Organizers say adding a local school will generate even more excitement within the city. This year’s OVC Tournament is set to run from March 1st through the 4th of 2023.
