News:

A potent winter storm continues to take shape to our west and will arrive in the Tri-State on Thursday and Friday. We are on alert for sub-zero wind chills, single-digit lows and highs in the teens Friday and Saturday. Chances for accumulating snow will be best on Thursday evening through early Friday. Strong winds may limit visibility and make travel dangerous on Thursday night and Friday. In the short term, skies will be partly to mostly cloudy. Lows will drop into the lower 20s this morning, with highs climbing into the lower 40s in the afternoon. Tomorrow will bring increasing clouds and highs in the middle 40s. As the winter storm moves in, we will first have gusty winds from the south and rain possible on Thursday morning and afternoon. Highs may briefly touch 50 before crashing into the teens on Friday. The transition from rain to snow is expected to happen quickly on Thursday afternoon and evening. Accumulations will likely be enough to cause travel hazards, especially with the wind and bitter cold. This storm will affect much of the Midwest and Ohio Valley, so if you have travel planned late in the week, stay alert of the weather.

Officials say the annual Christmas tree disposal service will begin on Tuesday, December 27th, and continue through Friday, January 6th, 2023. If you are an Evansville Water and Sewer Utility (EWSU) residential customer, you can place your Christmas tree next to the trash cart at the curb on the day of your scheduled trash collection and Republic Services will pick it up and take it to the landfill. The Christmas tree disposal service is for EWSU residential customers who pay for trash and recycling with their monthly water and sewer bill. The service is not available to retail, commercial or business customers, or to residents who live in apartment complexes, mobile home communities, or outside the city limits.

Evansville Water and Sewer Utility (EWSU) business offices will be closed Friday, December 23rd, and Monday, December 26th, for the Christmas holiday. Utility offices will also be closed Friday, December 30th, and Monday, January 2nd, for the New Year’s Day holiday. Republic Services will observe Christmas on Monday, December 26th, and News Year’s Day on Monday, January 2nd. All trash and recycling routes will operate on a one-day delay during those weeks.
