Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch has announced she is making a run for governor of Indiana. The Evansville native made her announcement Monday morning. Crouch has a reputation for advocating for initiatives that positively impact Hoosiers’ economy, invest in education, and strengthen communities and families. Crouch has served as a State Representative, County Commissioner, County Auditor, State Auditor, and has been Indiana’s Lieutenant Governor since 2017. Crouch is the first Republican woman in Indiana to ever run for Governor. Republican senator Mike Braun has already filed paperwork to run as well.

 

The University of Southern Indiana says finals for some students were canceled Monday afternoon due to a power outage. According to a statement from USI, 4:00 PM. and 6:00 PM finals were canceled due to a power outage affecting the area. Students whose finals were canceled should work with faculty to reschedule, USI said.

 

The Town of Poseyville is presenting a Day of Family fun this Saturday at the Poseyville Community Center. The event will last from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Saturday. Stop by and enjoy games, crafts, cookies, hot chocolate, and hot cider.

 

MSD of North Posey County has scheduled Preschool Screening Clinics which will be offered to children ages 3, 4 and 5 at no cost to parents to assess developmental and speech/language skills. The last fall clinic is today. Screenings are by appointment only. The number to call is (812) 874-2243.

 

United Way of Posey County continues to sell half pot tickets for a drawing coming up on December 31st, 2022. It is 5 dollars per ticket, and you do not have to be present to win. Right now, they have sold just over 1,500 dollars of tickets. 

 

Downtown Evansville is hosting a holiday event Friday to showcase its holiday spirit with a traveling event. Starting on Riverside Drive and Main Street, the public is invited to an event to walk or drive down the street to see Christmas lights and decorations called the “Santa Stroll,” presented by Riverside Capital Management Group. The event is free to the public and will be full of many fun decorations along the stroll. As people stroll along Main Street, they will receive a free Christmas ornament, holiday crafts, hot cocoa, and special Downtown Evansville stickers. This event starts December 16th and will run from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

 

Sports:

- North Posey Girls Basketball lost at Reitz, 53-40. The Lady Vikings fall to 5-4 on the season. 

- The Indiana Pacers dropped a game at home to the Miami Heat, 87-82. The Pacers are now 14-14 on the year.
