The 88th Annual Hadi Shrine Circus is right around the corner at Ford Center in downtown Evansville. Once again Posey County Shriners are making available free Circus Exchange Tickets for all Posey County Elementary School students. These are student only tickets and will be available at the following locations until supplies last. The first chance to get these tickets are today at the Poseyville Police Department from 5:30 PM until 7:00 PM. You will also have an opportunity on Monday November 21st at the New Harmony Fire Department from 5:30 PM until 7:00 PM and on Tuesday November 22nd in Mt. Vernon at the Black Township Fire Department from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Adult discount admission tickets will also be available for purchase at the previously mentioned locations. Discount tickets will not be available after November 23rd. Evansville’s Hadi Shrine Circus kicks off Thanksgiving Day at 5:00 PM and will have shows throughout Thanksgiving weekend at Ford Center in Evansville.
The Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation is receiving an $18,000 donation from AstraZeneca Mount Vernon to help students in the STEM field. According to a press release, the donation is to support the Southern Indiana Career and Technical Center and will offer four $4,000 scholarships for EVSC students interested in pursuing studies in STEM-related fields. SICTC is an education hub offering advanced career and technical education, workforce development and training for the entire southwest Indiana region. High School students from North and South Gibson, Spencer, Posey, Vanderburgh and Warrick counties can enroll in SICTC to engage in hands-on training in 20 diverse areas of study using the latest emerging technologies and equipment. The scholarships are available to all graduating seniors across EVSC. Depending on the number of applicants who meet required criteria, at least one of the scholarships will be awarded to a student from a traditionally underrepresented background. Officials say students who are interested in applying for the AstraZeneca scholarships can contact their school counselors for information.
High School Football Semi-State is tomorrow, and the Mater Dei Wildcats will play for a trip to the State Finals against Linton-Stockton at 6:30 PM. We will have Mater Dei Football on the radio once again tomorrow night, as they play host to 13-0 Linton-Stockton at The Bowl in Evansville. Kickoff is set for 6:30 PM. In Class 5A, Castle is still alive as well. They play tomorrow night at home against Whiteland at 7:00 PM. Castle is 8-4 on the year and Whiteland is 11-1.
Sports From Last Night:
- University of Evansville Men's Basketball lost at home against Southeast Missouri State, 67-61. Kenny Strawbridge Jr. had 22 points for the Aces. UE is now 1-2 on the year and they travel to SMU on Saturday at 2:00 PM.
- USI Men's Basketball got tripped up at Notre Dame, 82-70. Trevor Lakes poured in 21 points for the Screaming Eagles and Jacob Polakovich had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. USI is 1-2 on the season and they play host to Loras College on Friday at 7:00 PM.
- University of Evansville Women's Basketball beat Chicago State at home, 82-57. For UE Abby Feit had a double-double with 27 points and 17 rebounds. Evansville improves to 2-1 and they head to Illinois on Saturday at 2:00 PM.
- The Indiana Pacers defeated the Hornets in Charlotte, 125-113. Tyrese Haliburton collected 22 points and 11 assists. The Pacers are now 7-6 on the year and play at the Houston Rockets on Friday at 7:00 PM.
