A man has died, and another has been arrested after a reported stabbing inside a bar restroom in Evansville's arts district Saturday evening. In a news release on Sunday morning, EPD spokeswoman Sgt. Anna Gray identified the suspect as 29-year-old Zachary Parksey. He is being charged with murder. Court records list him as a resident of Brazil, Indiana. The stabbing happened at Mo’s House in the 1100 block of Parrett Street around 5:00 PM Saturday. When officers arrived, they found the victim, an adult male, inside the bar with a stab wound to his neck. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital, but later died. The victim hasn't been publicly identified. According to the release, witnesses told police that Parksey and the victim appeared to know each other. They had apparently had an argument inside the men's restroom, where the stabbing reportedly happened. Officers found Parksey on scene. He was covered in blood, the release states. Parksey was detained by officers, but acted as if he could not walk or stay awake. He was transported to the hospital for medical clearance. Once Parksey was medically cleared, he was transported to the Vanderburgh County Confinement Center and charged with murder. Mo’s House announced on their Facebook page that they would be closed Sunday and Monday to allow their team some time to digest the recent event’s. Mo’s House plans to reopen on Tuesday.
The West Side Nut Club Fall Festival came to an end over the weekend in Evansville, after another large turnout throughout the week. The very popular Fall Festival Half Pot was another success this year. The winning number was drawn Saturday evening and the lucky number was NC-5380161. The West Side Nut Club Fall Festival Half Pot officially passed last year’s record high. The half pot’s total was just over $1.6 million, which exceeded last year’s mark of more than $1.5 million.
Mt. Vernon Kiwanis Club and McKim’s IGA are teaming up for the youth of Mt. Vernon with a Rib Fest this Friday, October 14th at 2:00 PM. A full slab of ribs are 18 dollars. You can contact a Kiwanis member for pre-sales and pick it up at the IGA in Mt. Vernon on Friday. You are to make the checks payable to McKim’s IGA.
Last night the IHSAA released the brackets for the High School Football Sectionals that will be coming up next week. The first round of the postseason is Friday, October 21st. In the Class 2A Sectional 40, North Posey will play host to Forest Park in their first-round game. Forest Park is just 1-7 on the year and North Posey beat them two weeks ago on the road, 28-20. If the Vikings win their first sectional game, they will then get the winner of Mitchell and Paoli. In the Class 3A Sectional 30, Mt. Vernon will battle Owen Valley at home. Owen Valley is undefeated on the season at 8-0. If Mt. Vernon wins their first-round sectional game, they would face the winner of Vincennes and Gibson Southern.
The final week of the High School Football regular season is this Friday. Mt. Vernon, who is 4-4 on the year, will be at home taking on Washington to conclude the regular season. North Posey, who is 6-2, will be at home as well against Pike Central. North Posey won the battle of Posey County last Friday night at home against Mt. Vernon, 28-13.

- University of Evansville Women's Soccer lost 3-0 at Valparaiso. UE drops to 1-8-4 on the season and 0-5-2 in conference play.
- University of Southern Indiana Women's Soccer tied Lindenwood on the road, 1-1. USI is 4-5-4 overall and 0-3-2 in the conference.
