Today, the American Red Cross is hosting a Blood Drive in Mt. Vernon. There continues to be a critical need for blood donations. If you can support and give blood, the drive is Monday at 1:00 PM at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. It is located at 1717 Main Street in Mt. Vernon.
A man died on Thursday in Posey County after becoming trapped in a grain bin. Officials with Black Township Fire and Rescue say crews were dispatched around 1:00 PM Thursday after a man got trapped in a grain bin. They say it happened off Bellefontaine Cemetery Road. Multiple agencies responded to the scene in an attempt to save the victim. Authorities say the man who died was a farm hand that was assisting the farmer. The Posey County Coroner's Office says the victim was 74-year-old Steven Grabert of rural Mt. Vernon. Grabert's obituary says he was born in Evansville in 1948. It says he was a lifelong farmer, a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, and a graduate of Mt. Vernon High School.
There is no Mt. Vernon Basketball Coaches Show tonight from United Fidelity Bank on 106.7 FM WMVI due to the bank being closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. There will also be no show this week, as it’s a busy week for the Mt. Vernon Boys Basketball team at the Carmi White County Tournament. The Wildcats will play Day School tomorrow night at 7:00 PM, Carmi on Thursday at 7:00 PM, Harrisburg on Friday at 5:30 PM, and Fairfield on Saturday at 4:30 PM. Vernon won on Friday at home against Southridge, 58-55 to snap a 4-game losing streak. The Wildcats are 4-8 on the year.
North Posey Boys Basketball won both of their games this past weekend. On Friday they defeated Tecumseh on the road, 62-57 and then cruised past Forest Park at home, 58-38. The Vikings are 9-6 on the season and will travel to South Spencer this Friday evening. You will be able to hear the game on 98.9 WPIW and online at poseycountyradio.com.

- Evansville Womens Basketball lost at home on Sunday against Northern Iowa, 73-68. A'Niah Griffin had 17 points to lead UE. The Lady Aces fall to 7-7 and 2-4 in the MVC.
