This evening is the Poseyville Hide and Seek from the Police event. You can show up at the Poseyville Community Center to receive your wristband at 8:00 PM. They say you will be released at 9:00 PM and be given a 15-minute head start. You can sign up for the event at the Poseyville Carnegie Public Library.
Also today, the Mt. Vernon Fire Department says their Halloween Trick or Treat will start at 3:00 PM at the Fire and Police Station. They say they will go until they run out of candy.
United Way of Posey County is selling tickets for a Half Pot Raffle to help raise money for the community. The drawing isn’t until December 31st and right now the Half Pot total is just over 1,000 dollars. If you are interested in a ticket, you can visit the United Way office at 215 South Kimball Street. A big pep rally is planned for Thursday at The University of Southern Indiana. It’s set for 1:30 PM in the Screaming Eagles Arena. Officials say it’s also a press conference to make a major announcement about USI Athletics. USI Interim President Steve Bridges, Vice President and Director of Athletics Jon Mark Hall, and special guests will make remarks. Student-athletes, coaches, students, employees, Archie the mascot, and invited guests will all be there.
The Downtown Evansville Economic Improvement District is set to host the Night Market tomorrow. The free event will take place from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday and feature over 40 local makers on Fourth Street. Attendees will find locally made holiday-themed items, curated vintage, produce, and baked goods from a variety of vendors and businesses. According to a release, those local makers will be located on Fourth St. from Locust to Chestnut St. Officials say activities will include live music from DJ Chidi. Major League Baseball has a new champion as last night the Los Angeles Dodgers clinched their 8th World Series Title in franchise history. The Dodgers beat the Yankees in New York, 7-6 in Game 5 as they won the World Series 4 games to 1. Los Angeles first baseman Freddie Freeman was named the World Series MVP.
From the NBA…the Indiana Pacers ended a 3-game skid last night with a 135-132 overtime win at home over the Boston Celtics. Bennedict Mathurin tallied 30 points off the Indiana bench. Pascal Siakam scored 29 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. The Pacers improve to 2-3 on the season. They play in New Orleans tomorrow evening against the Pelicans.
