Three new deputies were sworn-in in Posey County on Tuesday. The Posey County Sheriff's Office welcomed Cody Webb, Josh Grosvenor, and Levi Rogers to its ranks. The three new deputies were sworn in by Circuit Court Judge Craig Goedde. The sheriff's office congratulated the new deputies, and shared photos of the swearing-in ceremony on Facebook.
The Mt. Vernon Volleyball saw their season come to an end last night in the first round of sectionals. The Wildcats played Memorial in the Class 3A Sectional 32 at Gibson Southern. The Wildcats lost in straight sets. They finish with a record of 12-17.
The North Posey Volleyball team will play their first sectional match tomorrow night in the Class 2A Sectional 48 at Forest Park. The Vikings will face Crawford County in the second match tomorrow evening at 7:00 PM. North Posey Volleyball finished the regular season with an impressive 25-6 record.
Kiwanis Club of Poseyville says the annual Poseyville Kiwanis Club’s Punt, Pass, and Kick competition will be on Saturday, October 21st at 9:00 AM at North Posey High School. The competition is open to anyone who will be 8-12 years old as of December 31st, 2023. There is no cost to participate. Prizes will be handed out.
Family Matters of Posey County posted on Facebook that the Family Application Deadline is quickly approaching for the Posey County Christmas Assistance Program. The deadline is this Thursday, October 12th. All completed applications must be returned to Trinity U.C.C. by 2:00 PM on Thursday. There are applications still available at Family Matters, Posey County Trustee’s Offices, and Trinity U.C.C.
This Friday is the final week of the High School Football regular season and on Tuesday the updated AP high school football rankings were released. In Class 5A, Castle is 11th. Class 4A has Reitz 2nd and Memorial 12th. Class 3A has three tri-state teams with Gibson Southern 6th, Heritage Hills 7th, and Vincennes 16th. In Class 2A, North Posey is ranked 4th.
