The 90th annual Hadi Shrine Circus is coming up and once again Posey County elementary school students will have a chance to get circus exchange tickets. The exchange tickets are free and only available while supplies last. These tickets will be available at three locations throughout the county on different dates. That includes the first chance at the Poseyville Police Department on Thursday November 21st from 5:30 to 7PM. The New Harmony Fire Department on Monday November 25th from 5:30 to 7PM and at the Black Township Fire Department on Tuesday November 26th from 6 to 8 PM. Adult advance discounted tickets will also be for sale at these locations. The Hadi Shrine Circus will begin on Thanksgiving Day at 5PM in Evansville.
The Posey County Community Foundation has announced that their Community Scholarship applications are now open. The scholarships are funded by donors honoring loved ones and their community. There are many scholarships available and you can see all of them by visiting poseycountycf.org. Deadline to register is January 20th of 2025.
Indiana taxpayers can now benefit from the new Attainable Homeownership Tax Credit (AHTC) by donating to Habitat for Humanity of Evansville. This program offers a 50% state tax credit on contributions up to $20,000, allowing donors to receive a $10,000 credit for a $20,000 gift. The AHTC program runs until January 1, 2030, with limited credits available annually on a first-come, first-served basis. To participate, donors must complete a contribution form and make payments through Habitat for Humanity of Indiana. For details, visit evansvillehabitat.org.
The Posey County Soil and Water Conservation District has partnered with the Posey County Health Department for free water well testing for Posey County Residents. These tests typical cost $90, but you can get on the waiting list for the free testing by calling 812-838-4191 extension number 3 or by emailing PoseySWCD@gmail.com. They will be collecting 120 tests throughout 2025.
Family Matters of Posey County is reminding the public that you have a chance to sign up to help with the Red Kettle Campaign. If you would like to help Family Matters and the Salvation Army, contact the office at 812-838-6875 or sign up online at registertoring.com. Two dates they need help with are December 5th and 6th.

In local high school basketball last night, Mount Vernon Girls Basketball lost at Reitz, 62 to 8 as the Lady Wildcats drop to 0 and 4 overall. They will be home against North Posey on Friday.
Last night in local college basketball, Evansville Men’s Basketball lost at Ohio State. The final score 80 to 30. The Purple Aces fall to 1 and 4 on the season and will be at home on Friday against Green Bay at 7:00 PM.
#9 Kentucky beat Lipscomb at home, 97 to 68. Jaxson Robinson led the Cats with 20 points. UK improves to 4 and 0 on the year and will play again on Friday at home against Jackson State at 7:00 PM.
#6 Purdue suffered their first loss of the season last night at #15 Marquette, 76 to 58. The Boilermakers are now 4 and 1 and will welcome Marshall on Saturday at 12:00 PM.
Louisville cruised past Bellarmine at home, 100 to 68. The Cards improve their record to 3 and 1 and will play host to Winthrop on Friday at 7:00 PM.
And in the NBA tonight, the Indiana Pacers continue their 3-game road-trip in Houston against the Rockets at 7:00 PM. The Pacers have a record of 6 and 8.
