This past weekend, the Posey County Special Olympics Basketball teams played up at state in Indianapolis. All three teams received silver medals at state. Monday night, the Wanderers and Black Township Fire and Rescue escorted the Posey County Special Olympics Basketball teams around town.
Family Matters of Posey County posted on Facebook that they have tickets available for this Saturday’s Division II Men’s Basketball Championship game at Ford Center in downtown Evansville. The game will tipoff at 2:00 PM. If you are interested in taking your child, please reach out to the Family Matters office. They say they would love to give the tickets to you. They will be given out on a first come, first serve basis.
The annual Pops Mt. Vernon Football Dinner and Auction is right around the corner on Saturday, April 6th at the Posey County 4-H Center. This is for anyone 21 years and older. Doors will open at 5:30 PM and Dinner will be at 6:30 PM. Food will be provided by Hawg n’ Sauce. There will also be live and silent auctions. The cost of a single ticket is 30 dollars and the cost of a couple’s ticket is 50 dollars. Tickets must be purchased online in advance. Visit the Pops Mt. Just a reminder that with summertime approaching, The Mount Vernon Parks and Recreation Department is now accepting applications for seasonal workers. Applications are being accepted for maintenance workers as well as pool workers. You can find the applications on their Facebook page or stop by the office at Hedges Central Door 8.
North Posey Baseball earned an 8-7 win last night at South Knox in the Vikings season opener. North Posey Softball dropped a game on the road at Henderson County, 12-2 in 5 innings. Vikings Softball is now 1-1.
Coming up tonight in local high school sports, Mt. Vernon Baseball welcomes Central for a 5:00 PM first pitch. It’s the Wildcats season opener.
From the NBA this evening…the Indiana Pacers wrap up a 5-game road-trip in Chicago against the Bulls at 7:00 PM. Indiana has won 3 of the first 4 games of this road-trip. The Pacers sit in 6th place in the Eastern Conference standings with a 41-32 record.
