Coming up this weekend is the 34th Annual Keck-Gonnerman Antique Machinery Association Show. It runs Friday through Sunday at the Posey County Fairgrounds, which is located at 111 Harmony Township Road in New Harmony. It is free admission. There will be food vendors and a flea market. The Deaconess Mobile Mammogram unit will be providing screening mammograms tomorrow. No insurance is required for these screenings as the Posey County Health Department will cover the cost for those who need assistance. To schedule a mammogram, call 812-450-6266. If you need financial assistance for the screening, call the Posey County Health Department after your appointment is scheduled at 812-838-1330. The location for the screenings will be the IGA in Mount Vernon on Thursday between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
Posey County Solid Waste District says the August Tox-away day is tomorrow from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Mt. Vernon recycling center. For more information you can call 812-838-1613.
This Sunday evening at the Mt. Vernon High School PAC there is a night of worship. The community is invited to join in the worship of Jesus Christ. Doors open at 6:00 PM and the music begins at 6:30 PM.
The St. Louis Cardinals cruised past the Texas Rangers last night at home, 8-1. Tommy Pham who the Cardinals received in a trade from the White Sox on Monday, hit a pinch hit grand slam in his first at-bat back with the Redbirds in the 5th inning. St. Louis improves to 55-52 and the Cardinals go for a series win against the Rangers in the series finale at 1:15 PM.
The Redbirds did make another trade right before the deadline yesterday. St. Louis traded outfield Dylan Carlson to the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for right-handed pitcher, Shawn Armstrong.
The Chicago Cubs lost game 2 of their 3-game series at the Cincinnati Reds Tuesday night, 6-3. The Cubs drop to 51-58 on the year and the Reds improve to 52-55. Cincy goes for the 3-game sweep tonight at 6:10 PM.
