The Posey County Sheriff’s National Night Out is coming up next Tuesday, August 1st at Cynthiana Town Park from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. All Posey County residents are invited to come out and enjoy burgers, hotdogs, chips, and ice cream. Kona Ice will also be available from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. New this year, School Resource Officer Carter will have his squad car available to fill with donations of back-to-school supplies. These supplies will benefit the North Posey students and help start the school year off right. If you are unable to make the event, but would still like to donate, you can reach out to Officer Carter to make arrangements.
The Mt. Vernon Police Department wants to let the community know that they are looking to hire. Starting pay is 52,300 dollars, with a 2,000 dollar increase after the probationary year. You can apply now at mountvernonin.gov.
Posey County EMS announced that they are joining with several community agencies for a county-wide 1st Annual Friends and Family CPR Training Day. It will take place on September 23rd and more information will be coming soon on how to register. The pre-registration will start in August.
Another step toward adding pickleball courts at Burdette Park in Vanderburgh County has been taken. Vanderburgh County Commissioners announced the winning bid to revitalize the current tennis courts at Burdette Park. Empire Contractors was awarded the bid of $472,000. We’re told six pickleball courts will be built.
Feed Evansville is hosting a community food share event today. The food share is happening at Vann Park today from 4:30-6:30 PM. Attendees of the food share event are asked to park and stand in line once the Feed Evansville truck arrives. Because of limited supplies, Feed Evansville says community members will only be able to pick up their own food.

- The St. Louis Cardinals (45-57) wrap up their 7-game road-trip and 3-game series in Arizona today at 2:40 PM. The Cardinals lost last night 3-1, as the two teams split the first two games of the series. Catch today’s game on 106.7 FM WMVI.
- The Chicago Cubs (49-51) continue play on the southside of Chicago against the White Sox (41-61) at 7:10 PM. The Cubs won last night, 7-3 and look for their 5th-straight win tonight. The White Sox are hoping to avoid a 5th-straight loss.
- The Cincinnati Reds (56-47) wrap up their 3-game set in Milwaukee today at 1:10 PM. Cincinnati is going for a series win and also to leapfrog the Brewers into first place of the NL Central standings. The Reds begin play today just a half game back of Milwaukee.
