The Posey County Fair rolls along tonight with another busy evening of events. It is Veteran Appreciation Day, so Veteran’s will get into the Posey County Fair free tonight. There is a meal in the community center provided by extension homemakers. You will get a choice of a hamloaf or fried chicken meal with sides, dessert, and drink. The cost of the meal is 15 dollars for adults and 8 dollars for kids.

At 5:00 PM this evening there is the 4H Fashion Review in the community center. There are several events at 6:00 PM which include the color guard presentation, beautiful baby contest, and mud volleyball. The mud volleyball is in the main arena. Later, at 7:00 PM the bike and ATV drag races will take place.

It costs 8 dollars per person to get in, or you can buy a season pass for 30 dollars. Kids 10 years of age and under get in for free. Again, it’s Veteran Appreciation Day at the Posey County Fair, so if you are a Veteran, you get in for free tonight.

 

ProRehab has announced that they will be expanding their business into Mt. Vernon. In a Facebook post they say they will now be bringing the town of Mt. Vernon and surrounding areas the excellent quality of care and expertise ProRehab has to offer in a convenient location. They have not shared any other details outside of the fact that they are expanding into Mt. Vernon. More details will be coming soon.

 

The Knights of St. John 57th Annual Bierstube gets underway tomorrow night and runs through Saturday evening. There will be live music nightly and the Beer Garden opens nightly at 6:00 PM. The Daniel Williams Band will be performing Thursday evening from 8:00 PM until 12:00 AM. On Friday its JB and the Tried and True from 9:00 PM until 1:00 AM. Then on Saturday it’s Kenna Elpers with Jagger Whitaker from 9:00 PM until 1:00 AM. They encourage you to come celebrate 100 years of service and charity to the community for the Knights of St. John #282. There will be dine-in and drive-through food available all three days. Thursday it will be dine-in only and there will be sandwiches available. Then on Friday and Saturday starting at 5:00 PM there will be chicken and sausage available for dine-in or drive-thru. Knights of St. John is located on Winery Road in Wadesville.

 

The Town of Poseyville has announced a Poseyville Blood Drive on Monday, July 29th from 1:30 PM until 6:00 PM. It will be at the Poseyville Community Center on 60 North Church Street. Mt. Vernon Kiwanis Club has announced a date for a Family Swim Night. That will be on Wednesday, July 31st from 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM at Brittlebank Pool. It’s an evening of free swimming and free snacks.

 

There’s a new EVSC School Board Member. Secretary Mike Duckworth says the board appointed Josh Barnett at their meeting Monday night. He replaces Amy Word, who is no longer on the board after she was found guilty of maintaining a common nuisance. Barnett was a middle school teacher for seventeen years, with some of those years being in Indianapolis and the rest at Washington Middle School. Being on the school board is new to him, but he says he will do his best to learn the job and help the community.

 

The University of Southern Indiana Women's and Men's Basketball team is hosting an "Evening with the Eagles," tonight. This will be an open summer practice at 5:00 PM inside Screaming Eagles Arena. The event is open to the public. Those who attend will get a chance to watch the Screaming Eagles run through their everyday drills and a 10-minute scrimmage by both teams. After the open practice, the two squads will be available for autographs and pictures. Director of Athletics Jon Mark Hall will speak alongside Men's Head Coach Stan Gouard and Women's Head Coach Rick Stein, about the upcoming year. Plus, a few players will speak as well. Not only will there be an informational session about NIL, but attendees will have the opportunity to acquire information or purchase season tickets for the 2024-25 USI Basketball season and take a tour of the USI Basketball facilities and locker rooms.
