Coming up tonight in local high school sports…North Posey Girls Basketball takes on Mater Dei at 5:30 PM in the Class 2A Sectional 48 at Forest Park High School. The Lady Vikings went 16-6 in the regular season and Mater Dei went 8-11. North Posey won the regular season meeting on December 19th at home, 64-50. Mt. Vernon Girls Basketball will play on Friday night in the Class 3A Sectional 32 at Central High School. The Lady Wildcats received a first-round bye. They will play the winner of Boonville and Central at 7:00 PM Friday evening.

 

NewLife Rescue and Adoption is having a Benefit Auction and Dinner at the Posey County Community Center this Saturday. There will be food, beverages, raffles, and auction items. Harmonie State Park posted on Facebook that this Saturday they are having their second annual Chili Cook-Off and their 5th annual Falconry event. You can come around lunchtime to taste and vote and then stick around for a great birds of prey program that is all about the art of falconry. This event will happen rain or shine. It will take place around the Nature Center and Pavillion.

 

Last night in Men’s College Basketball…the Indiana Hoosiers lost at #21 Wisconsin, 76-64. Mackenzie Mgbako scored 15 points in the loss for IU. The Hoosiers have now dropped 4-straight games. They have a record of 14-9 and 5-7 in the Big 10.

#7 Purdue earned a road win at Iowa, 90-81. Braden Smith poured in a game-high 31 points for the Boilermakers as they win their 3rd-straight game to improve to 18-5 overall and 10-2 in the Big 10.

#14 Kentucky got beat at #25 Ole Miss, 98-84. The Cats got outscored 54-31 in the first half. Kentucky has now lost back-to-back games as they fall to 15-7 on the season and 4-5 in the SEC.

 

This evening in Men’s College Basketball…the Evansville Purple Aces are home at Ford Center as they welcome the Salukis of Southern Illinois into town for a 7:00 PM tipoff. The Aces have won 3-straight games and are 9-14 on the year and 6-6 in the Missouri Valley Conference. UE is currently in a tie for 6th place with Illinois State.
