Posey County Royalty Pageants Facebook page posted that the registration for the 2025 Princess, Duchess, Miss Teen Posey County, and Miss Posey County pageants is now open. If you have any questions, you can email pocoroyaltypageants@gmail.com. They say registration for the Little Miss, Tiny Miss, and Beautiful Baby contest will open at a later date.
Family Matters of Posey County has announced that they are having their 7th Annual Golf Scramble this summer on Friday, June 13th. It will begin at 1:00 PM at Western Hills Country Club. If you are interested, the number to call to RSVP is 838-6875.
Avery's Place playground will celebrate its grand opening on May 18th at Hagemann Park in Mount Vernon. This new all-inclusive playground will open at 1:00 PM on the 18th. Festivities are planned to include ice cream, snacks, live music, and more. You can find more information about Avery's Place on Facebook.
The 2025 Hadi Shrine Half Pot hit a milestone with less than a week before the drawing. The Hadi Shrines announced Tuesday that the Half Pot has reached $150,000. Officials say tickets can still be bought until May 4th, and the drawing will be held on May 5th at 10:00 AM. You can get tickets at the Hadi Circus Office in Downtown Evansville Monday through Friday.
Last night, mother nature interfered with the local high school sports games as Mt. Vernon Baseball had their game at home against Princeton postponed and North Posey Baseball had the same thing with their game at Gibson Southern.
Tonight, North Posey Softball is home taking on Gibson Southern at 5:00 PM. Vikings Softball is 7-4 overall.
This evening in local college sports…Evansville Baseball is at home taking on IU at 6:00 PM.
USI Baseball plays at Illinois State at 5:00 PM.
In the NBA Playoffs Tuesday night, the Indiana Pacers advanced to the Second Round. Indiana beat the Milwaukee Bucks at home in Game 5, 119-118 in overtime. Tyrese Haliburton hit the game-winning shot with 1 second left. Haliburton led the Pacers with 26 points as they won the best-of-seven series, 4-1. Indiana will play Cleveland in the Second Round and that series begins on Sunday in Cleveland.
From Major League Baseball last night, the St. Louis Cardinals had Game 2 of their 4-game series at the Cincinnati Reds postponed due to weather. The two teams will play a doubleheader today at 11:40 AM and 5:40 PM. The Cardinals are 12-17 and the Reds are 16-13. Cincinnati has won 5-striaght games.
The Chicago Cubs shut out the Pirates in Pittsburgh, 9-0. The Cubs improve to 18-12. They play Game 2 of their 3-game set tonight at 5:40 PM.
