The Red Cross will be at Point Township Church of the Nazarene this afternoon from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM to hand out cleaning supplies. The supplies they have available include plastic storage totes, gloves, garbage bags, bleach, and several other items. The address for Point Township Church of the Nazarene is 12611 Bonebank Road.

 

Coming up tomorrow evening at 5:00 PM is the Mt. Vernon Parks and Recreation Department’s annual Easter Egg Hunt. It will take place at Hedges on Locust Street. The hunt will be on the playground on the south side of the property. They say to bring your own basket.

 

Tomorrow night, the Posey County Democrat Women’s Club will meet at 6:00 PM at 217 West Third Street in Mt. Vernon. The guest speaker will be Vanderburgh County Sheriff, Noah Robinson. He will be discussing current immigration roundup status.

 

The MSD of Mt. Vernon and Thrive Afterschool Inc. is inviting all MSD of Mt. Vernon families to a Community Townhall with Dr. Stephanie Stewart and other school district leaders on Thursday, April 24th. The Community Townhall will take place from 5:30 PM until 6:30 PM at 601 Main Street in Mt. Vernon. This will be a chance to get to know the new superintendent and share your thoughts on a wide variety of topics.

 

Last night in local high school sports… North Posey Softball defeated South Knox at home, 5-2. They improve to 4-2 on the season. Vikings Softball heads to Tecumseh this evening at 5:00 PM.

North Posey Baseball earned a road win at Heritage Hills, 7-4. The win pushed their record to 5-2. Vikings Baseball is at Vincennes tonight at 5:00 PM.

Mt. Vernon Baseball got beat at home by Washington, 6-3. The Wildcats are now 1-3 on the year.

Mt. Vernon Softball did not play last night, but they return to action this evening at Harrison at 5:00 PM.

 

In Major League Baseball on Tuesday…the St. Louis Cardinals failed to win their third-straight game as they got shutout at home by the Houston Astros, 2-0. The Cardinals are now 8-9 overall. They finish up their 3-game series against the Astros today at 12:15 PM. The two teams have split the first two games of the series.
