Election day is just over a month away on November 5th and it’s important to make sure you are properly registered before heading out to the polls. You can do that by visiting IndianaVoters.gov. That website will tell you whether you’re registered to vote or not. If you’re not registered in Indiana, you have until October 7th and 11:59 PM to do so. You can register in person at your county’s registration office, online at IndianaVoters.gov, or by mail. If you choose to register through mail, you have a few different options. You can download a form off the Indiana Secretary of State’s website, or you can pick one up at either the Bureau of Motor Vehicles or your local township trustee’s office. Those mail-in registrations just need to be postmarked to your elections office before 11:59 PM on that October 7th day. It’s not too late to request an absentee ballot either. In Indiana, the deadline for that is October 24th. For more information, you can visit IndianaVoters.gov, or call your local election office.
This past Sunday, a new tradition started in North Posey County. School leaders are calling it “The Viking Bridge.” They shared videos of the class of 2025 meeting with North Posey kindergarteners, the class of 2037. This all happened on their football field. The kindergarteners all lined up on one side, and the seniors lined up on the other. They then walked towards each other and met as one group. Leaders call it a celebration of what it means to be a Viking. If you would like to see videos of this, North Elementary’s Facebook page has them posted.
A traffic shift has begun on the west side of Lloyd Expressway as part of the Lloyd4U project. Officials say crews have closed the westbound lanes between Barker Avenue and Posey County Line Road. They then moved one direction of westbound traffic into the eastbound lanes. According to a release, the traffic switch will allow crews to construct the new westbound lanes of the Lloyd Expressway. Improvements include pavement replacement, bridge reconstruction, and intersection improvements. Officials say this will be in place through the middle of next year.
Trent Sisley has made his long-awaited decision, and he will be staying close to home. The former Heritage Hills star who is now a current student at Montverde Academy (FL) announced his commitment to Indiana University on social media Monday. The 6-foot-7 senior chose the Hoosiers over a top group of Iowa, Michigan State, Notre Dame, and Purdue. The Santa Claus, Indiana native is a 4-star recruit in the 2025 cycle. After an official visit with the Hoosiers and Head Coach Mike Woodson this past weekend, Sisley announced his decision.
