The North Posey Vikings Football team will play for a Sectional Championship this Friday night at home against Paoli at 6:30 PM. The Vikings beat Mater Dei this past Friday at The Bowl on the west side of Evansville, 35-34 in overtime. Tickets for this Friday’s game will be 7 dollars per person and available at the gate. No season or lifetime sports passes will be accepted per IHSAA playoff rules. If you can’t make it to the game, Jordan Fisher and Chris Morlan will have the radio broadcast on 98.9 FM WPIW, 106.7 FM WMVI, and online at poseycountyradio.com.
The North Posey Cheer Team is headed to State this weekend. They will perform on Saturday at New Castle High School. The competition begins at 10:00 AM with the large time-out division. The awards will take place at approximately 1:15 PM. The Vikings Cheer Team will perform their time-out routine at 11:10 AM.
The Posey County Solid Waste District says the November Tox-away day will be this Thursday, November 2nd from 2:00-6:00 PM at the Mt. Vernon recycling center. Be sure to properly dispose of old household chemicals, non-latex paint and stains, pesticides, pool chemicals, and non-alkaline batters. For more information, the number to call is 812-838-1613.
The Vanderburgh County Clerk’s Office says as of Saturday, 3,822 early ballots have been cast. Officials say nearly 500 absentee ballots have been issued, but not all of them have been returned. The clerk’s office says those absentee ballots by mail must be back to the Election Office no later than 6:00 PM on Election Day. For those voting in person, you can still get that done early. Early voting continues at Central Library from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day through Saturday. Other library locations are also open from noon to 6 p.m. through Thursday and from noon to 5:00 PM on Friday. On Saturday, Northeast Park Baptist Church and Cedar Hall School will be open for voting from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Election Day is on November 7th.
More funding for CenterPoint weatherization program was announced Monday afternoon in Evansville. Tepe Park neighborhood held a family fun event in partnership with CenterPoint energy. Over $600,000 was announced in ARPA funding to enhance CenterPoint’s weatherization program. The program is aimed at reducing energy bills for customers by having a home assessment energy advisor visit your home. During the visit, the advisor will install low-cost energy saving measures.
In sports last night…Game 3 of the World Series went to the Texas Rangers as they earned a road win at the Arizona Diamondbacks, 3-1. Texas now leads the World Series two games to one. Game 4 is this evening in Arizona at 7:00 PM.
From the NBA, the Indiana Pacers suffered their first loss of the season at home to the Chicago Bulls, 112-105. The Pacers dip to 2-1 on the young season and will travel to Boston on Wednesday.
