United Way of Posey County is reminding the community that you still have time to sign up for this Saturday’s 5K Run/Walk Event and Kids Dash. Bib pickup is at 7:30 AM, start time is at 8:00 AM. And the kids dash is set for 9:15 AM. The race starts and ends at the Cox Group, which is located at 427 Locust Street in Mt. Vernon. To register for the race, visit runsignup.com.
Tomorrow, the town of Cynthiana is presenting Halloween in the Park. The event will last from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. There will be a Trunk or Treat, Pumpkin Painting, and Food.
Coming up on Thursday is the Poseyville Hide and Seek from the Police. You can show up at the Poseyville Community Center to receive your wristband at 8:00 PM. They say you will be released at 9:00 PM and be given a 15-minute head start. You can sign up for the event at the Poseyville Carnegie Public Library.
The Indiana Department of Transportation has announced a four-way stop conversion at the intersection of State Road 69 and Tile Factory Road. That conversion is planned for this Thursday. Officials say crews will convert the current two-way stop at State Road 69 and Tile Factory Rd. in Posey County to a four-way stop. The installation follows a traffic study at the intersection. Since January 2021, there have been seven crashes at this intersection. Five of those crashes have resulted in serious injuries. The intersection is located on the Keck Bypass, near Mount Vernon. According to a release, once the conversion is finished, traffic on both roadways will be required to stop at the intersection.
Evansville City Council voted unanimously to adopt the city’s 2025 budget. Mayor Stephanie Terry shared on social media the highlights of Monday night’s meeting including city employees will receive a three percent raise for the first time in more than a decade. Terry also mentioned $24 million in bonds to improve city parks and recreational spaces. Earlier this month, Terry said council approved a redevelopment bond for a new fire station. According to the mayor, the full budget will be on the City of Evansville’s website later this week for the public to view.
From the NBA…the Indiana Pacers lost their third-straight last night in Orlando to the Magic, 119-115. Pascal Siakam scored 26 points and Tyrese Haliburton collected a double-double with 19 points and 10 assists in a losing effort. The Pacers fall to 1-3 on the season. Indiana is home on Wednesday to battle the defending NBA Champions, Boston Celtics.
