A Mount Vernon man on parole for dealing meth is back behind bars on similar charges in Vanderburgh County. According to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were on patrol early Monday morning at 1:00 AM on Barker Avenue when they saw a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria with no license plate light. According to an affidavit, two people were in the car. 30-year-old Darian Givens was in the passenger seat. Officials say Givens was holding a fresh lit cigarette, avoiding eye contact, had short responses, rigid body language and hands were on his groin. A search was conducted where EPD officers reportedly found a blue rubber glove in the passenger door. A black drawstring bag in the passenger floorboard was also found containing multiple items including more rubber gloves, sandwich bags, five cell phones, a sim card box and mail addressed to Givens. Officials say a black zipper bag with a glass pipe with white crystalline residue was inside Givens’ jacket along with $1,360 in Givens’ pants pocket. At the jail, a large bag of a white crystalline substance, a bag of a green leafy substance, six orange pills, 11 small zip bags, 13 sandwich bags and a digital scale was also reportedly found on Givens. The affidavit states that numerous drugs were identified, including meth and THC.

Officials say the project also includes updated labs and state-of-the-art equipment for growing healthcare programs. USI officials are expected to release more information about the project and provide artist renderings on Wednesday.
