The 165th annual Posey County Fair continues this evening with a busy list of events. First, we will start with tonight’s meal in the community center from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. The meal is from the Posey County Relay For Life and it will be a grilled chicken meal. The cost for adults is 15 dollars and for kids it is 8 dollars.

At 6:00 PM tonight the Tiny and Little Miss Contest will take place in the community center. Then, at 7:30 PM it’s night two of the professional rodeo including bulls, broncs, trick riders, and more in the main arena.

The free carnival rides run from 5:00 PM until 10:00 PM and the free kids zone is open from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

It costs 8 dollars per-person to get in, or you can buy a season pass for 30 dollars. Kids 10 years of age and under get in for free.

 

The Mt. Vernon Parks and Recreation Department says that fall youth sports signups are now available. This is for tackle/flag football, cheer, soccer, and volleyball. They say that one thing new this year is that volleyball will now be 2nd through 6th grades. Mt. Vernon Wildcat Youth Basketball Association is encouraging the community to come out to the riverfront this Saturday evening and watch a classic basketball movie, Space Jam. The event is sponsored by the Wildcats Youth Basketball Association. There will be drinks, snacks, and some Space Jam themed items. The movie will start at dusk.

 

North Posey Football’s youth camp is quickly approaching. It will take place July 29th through the 31st in the evening at the high school football field from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM. The camp is for incoming kindergarten through 8th grade students. All participants must sign up to get their free t-shirt and sign a waiver.

 

The St. Louis Cardinals will be off until Friday night for the Major League Baseball All-Star Break. Tonight is the All-Star Game in Arlington, Texas at the home of the Texas Rangers. The Redbirds will resume play on Friday as they begin the second half of their schedule in Atlanta against the Braves. The Cardinals are 50-46 on the year and sit in second place in the National League Central. They are 4.5 games behind the first place Milwaukee Brewers. St. Louis does currently own the second of three wild cards spots in the National League.
