Expressway Credit Connection posted on Facebook that the North Posey Truck Raffle drawing is happening on Saturday, February 15th at halftime of the boys’ varsity basketball game. Tickets are only 20 dollars, and they say only 4,500 tickets will be sold. The grand prize is your choice of a brand-new 2025 vehicle or $20,000 cash. 2nd place is $500, 3rd place is $300, and 4th place is $100. The raffle is presented by the North Posey Booster Club and Expressway Dealers.
The City of Mount Vernon has asked that any downed trees and limbs be on the street side for pickup by February first, which is this Saturday. They have stated that if you cannot meet the deadline for various reasons, you can contact the Street Department via telephone at 812-838-2352 to set up a later scheduled time for your debris.
The City of Poseyville is still accepting applications for the position of Administrative Assistant and Utilities Clerk. The full-time position is based out of the Town Hall and estimated to offer around 35 hours of work time a week. A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required. The starting salary range is between $16.40 and $18.00 per hour. You do not have to live within city limits to apply. We are about one week away from new information on a proposed CenterPoint Energy rate hike in Evansville. CenterPoint is asking for a $35 to $50 a month increase to customers’ bills. Several public meetings were held in late summer. The group overseeing the case, the IURC, has been going over those findings. We can expect their decision by next Monday.
University of Evansville guard Gabriel Pozzato has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week for a second time this season. In two games last week, the Italian scored 17.0 points per game and tallied 6.5 rebounds per game. In the 78-67 loss against the University of Illinois-Chicago last Wednesday, Pozzato scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds and five assists. He then dropped 21 points and a career-high seven rebounds in the 78-68 win over Valparaiso. The freshman missed eight games from December 12th, 2024, until January 18th, 2025. He is now averaging a team-high 14.8 points per game on 46.1% shooting from the field. Evansville welcomes Murray State to Ford Center tomorrow night at 7:00 PM.
Last night in local high school sports…Mt. Vernon Girls Basketball lost at home against Southridge, 28-20. The Lady Wildcats are now 0-19 on the season. They play again tonight at Wood Memorial at 6:00 PM.
North Posey Girls Basketball is back in action this evening at home against South Spencer. It will be a varsity only game at 6:00 PM. The Lady Vikings are looking for their 4th-straight win as they 14-6 overall.
This evening in college sports…USI Women’s and Men’s Basketball play at Morehead State. The Women’s game tips at 4:00 PM as the Screaming Eagles are 15-6 on the year and 7-3 in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Men’s game begins at 6:30 PM and USI sits at 9-11 and 4-6 in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Also tonight in college basketball action…#12 Kentucky heads to #8 Tennessee at 6:00 PM and #21 Louisville plays host to Wake Forest at 6:00 PM.
