The City of Mount Vernon has announced on Facebook that there is a boil advisory in effect for Farmersville and Blackford Roads area North East of the city limits. They have stated that the advisory will stand until 8:00 AM on Friday. If there are any changes to the boil order, we will let you know here at Posey County Radio.
Today is New Years Eve and a local non profit organization is offering free rides through the Lyft ride service. Logan's Promise is making the Lyft services available in Posey, Vanderburgh, Warrick and Gibson counties in Indiana tonight between the hours of 11 PM and 3:30 AM. You must use the code SAFENEWYEARS2025. They are offering the service as part of their safe ride program in which their mission is to promote the consequences of impaired driving.
Harmonie State Park is once again kicking off the new year with a First Day Hike at the park. The park staff says to meet up at the camping overflow lot. They will have some door prizes and hike part of trail 5 to the nature center. They will also have hot cocoa and cookies provided by the Friends of Harmonie State Park. They said friendly, leashed pets are welcomed as well. The First Day Hike will being a 1PM.
Newlife Rescue and Adoption has announced that their annual Live and Silent Auction will be taking place in February. The official date is Saturday February 8th and it will take place at the Posey County Community Center at the fairgrounds. Ticket cost is $35 per person and the event is for those 21 years of age and older. Dinner will be catered by Hawg N Sauce. The doors will open at 5 PM and dinner will be served at 6PM. Newlife officials say that every dollar raised goes toward rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of animals in need. In High School Sports for today, the solo event of the day is the North Posey Lady Vikings Wrestling Team will be at New Albany for the New Albany Christmas Invitational meet.
