Tomorrow night, North Posey Performing Arts presents their Holiday Bash. It will feature the 6th-12th grade band and 7th-12th grade choir. The Holiday Bash begins at 6:30 PM tomorrow evening in the North Posey Auditorium. Toys for Tots donation bins will be in the foyer with the art class displays before and after the concert.
In Evansville, United Way of Southwestern Indiana awarded nearly $1.7M to eight local nonprofits with the goal of improving school engagement. The money was raised through the Thriving Next Gen Pathway grant. The goal is to help high-need students show up for school, stay out of trouble and pass their classes. Leaders at United Way say they’re always finding ways to help students in the community. The nonprofits who received money includes the Southern Indiana Mentoring Academy, CMOE, YWCA, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Dream Center Evansville, the Potter’s Wheel, SIRS and the Immigrant Welcome and Resource Center.
Last night in Men’s College Basketball, the Indiana Hoosiers started Big 10 play off with a home victory over Minnesota, 82-67. Oumar Ballo paced IU with 18 points and 7 rebounds. The Hoosiers have won 4-straight games and are now 8-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play. Indiana heads to Nebraska on Friday.
Coming up this evening in local high school sports…North Posey Girls Basketball hits the road to play Southridge. The JV game starts at 5:30 PM and will be followed by the Varsity game at 7:00 PM. You can hear the Varsity game on 98.9 FM WPIW and online at poseycountyradio.com. The Lady Vikings are looking for a 5th-straight win as they sit at 4-1 on the season.
Mt. Vernon Girls Basketball travels to Mater Dei tonight. The JV game tips at 5:30 PM and the Varsity game will begin at 7:00 PM. The Lady Wildcats are winless on the season at 0-8.
