The Posey County Fair Association is still selling raffle tickets for half a hog and processing, with the drawing set to take place on May 5th. Tickets are available at several area locations, including the Half Moon Saloon, KB Auto, First Bank, and United Fidelity Bank. You can also purchase a ticket by contacting a fair board member. Tickets are $10 each.
Heart of Poseyville says they are having their first organizational meeting for their new Poseyville Garden Club this evening at 6:00 PM. Everyone is welcome and they encourage you to attend and bring your expertise and ideas to the meeting.
The State of Indiana has enacted a new law prohibiting the advertising of marijuana within its borders. The measure, added to legislation addressing Bureau of Motor Vehicles regulations, bans outdoor marijuana advertisements and flyers mailed to Indiana residents. While current advertising contracts will be allowed to run their course, no new contracts promoting marijuana will be permitted. Once existing agreements expire, all marijuana-related billboards and flyers directed at Indiana residents must be removed.
Avery's Place playground will celebrate its grand opening on May 18th at Hagemann Park in Mount Vernon. This new all-inclusive playground will open at 1:00 PM on the 18th. Festivities are planned to include ice cream, snacks, live music, and more. You can find more information about Avery's Place on Facebook.
Last night Mt. Vernon Baseball got beat by Vincennes Rivet on the road, 3-1. Wildcats Baseball is now 1-10 on the season. They are back in action tonight at home taking on Princeton at 5:30 PM.
North Posey Baseball cruised past Evansville Christian at home, 22-1 in 5 innings. Vikings Baseball now has a record of 9-4 and plays again this evening at Gibson Southern.
North Posey Softball lost at home against Heritage Hills, 6-4. Vikings Softball falls to 7-4 overall.
The St. Louis Cardinals lost game 1 of their 4-game series in Cincinnati last night to the Reds, 3-1. The Cardinals fall to 12-17 and the Reds improve to 16-13. Cincinnati has won 5-striaght games. Game 2 of the series is this evening at 5:40 PM.
The Chicago Cubs had Monday off and will start a 3-game set in Pittsburgh against the Pirates tonight at 5:40 PM. The Cubs are trying to avoid a 3rd-straight loss as their record sits at 17-12.
In the NBA Playoffs this evening, the Indiana Pacers look to close out their First Round Series with the Milwaukee Bucks. Game Five is tonight in Indianapolis at 5:00 PM. The Pacers lead the best-of-seven series, 3-1 after beating the Bucks in Game 4 in Milwaukee on Sunday, 129-103.
