Tomorrow night, Mt. Vernon Football travels to Washington for a 6:30 PM kickoff. The Wildcats are 2-1 on the season and will be going for their 3rd-straight win. The Hatchets are 1-2 on the year. Chris Cooke and Allen Buck will have you covered on the radio on 106.7 FM WMVI and online at poseycountyradio.com. Their pregame show is set to start at 6:15 PM tomorrow night.
North Posey Football is 3-0 on the year and they will try to stay undefeated tomorrow evening when they play host to Tell City at 7:00 PM. Vikings Football is ranked 7th in this week’s AP High School Football rankings for Class 2A. The Marksmen are 2-1 on the season. Catch the game on the radio on 98.9 FM WPIW and online at poseycountyradio.com. Jordan Fisher and Chris Morlan will have the broadcast with the pregame show starting at 6:45 PM.
The Saint Wendel Social is coming up this Saturday and Sunday. The Saturday evening meal is pulled pork and will be served from 5:00 PM until 7:30 PM. Sunday’s meal is fried chicken and will be served from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM in Wendel Hall. A drive-thru is available for the Sunday Chicken Dinner, starting at the cemetery gates on Boonville New Harmony Road and going down the hill following behind the school with pick up just before exiting on County Line Road. Serving begins at 11:00 AM on Sunday.
The Mt. Vernon River Days is coming up this Friday and Saturday. The busy two days of events gets underway at 11:00 AM on Friday with the opening ceremony, which will be located by the American Legion Post #5. Free inflatables provided by Old National Bank will be open from 11:00 AM until 7:00 PM. Also getting started at 11:00 AM on Friday is the “Smoke on the Ohio” BBQ competition, which runs until 8:00 PM. The Little Miss and Mr. River Days Pageant is at 6:00 PM on Friday and the evening will end with Fireworks at 9:00 PM. Then on Saturday, the long day of events runs from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM. Saturday starts with the 5K run in the courthouse area at 8:00 AM.
Ascension St. Vincent of Evansville is investing in the next generation of health care workers. The hospital donated $100,000 to the EVSC’s Career and Technical Center Wednesday afternoon. The hope is that students will get the best education, then return to work in the Tri-State. The funds will go to junior and senior students in the health science program. Many of those students were in attendance for Wednesday’s check presentation.

- Mt. Vernon Girls Soccer is home taking on South Spencer at 6:00 PM.
- Mt. Vernon Boys Soccer heads to Gibson Southern at 5:30 PM.
- Mt. Vernon Boys Tennis plays Bosse on the road at 4:15 PM.
- Mt. Vernon Girls Golf is on the road playing in a 4:30 PM match against Southridge and Tell City.

- Evansville Women’s Soccer (0-3-2) is home on campus this evening as they play Western Kentucky at 6:00 PM.
- USI Women’s Soccer (0-5-1) plays host to Austin Peay at 7:30 PM.
- The St. Louis Cardinals (61-78) look to complete a 3-game sweep of the Braves in Atlanta at 6:20 PM. Catch the game on 106.7 FM WMVI.
- The Chicago Cubs (76-64) start a 4-game series in Chicago with the Arizona Diamondbacks at 6:40 PM. The Cubs have won 4-straight games and are now just a game and a half back of Milwaukee for 1st place in the Central. The Cubs have a 3.5 game cushion for a wild card spot in the National League.
- Tonight, the NFL season kicks off with the defending Super Bowl champs Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Detroit Lions at 7:20 PM.
Sports From Last Night:
- North Posey Boys Tennis (6-4, 4-2) lost against Tecumseh 3-2.
- North Posey Volleyball (13-2) won a thriller in 5-set at North last night. The Vikings won the 5th set, 15-13.
- The St. Louis Cardinals (61-78) offense stayed hot in Atlanta last night as they smashed the Braves, 11-6. The Redbirds have won 3-straight games and they try to complete the 3-game sweep of the Braves tonight at 6:20 PM.
- The Chicago Cubs (76-64) completed a 3-game sweep at home against the San Francisco Giants, 8-2. Chicago welcomes Arizona into town tonight for a 4-game series.
- The Cincinnati Reds (73-69) couldn’t finish off a 3-game sweep of the Seattle Mariners as the Reds fell at home last night, 8-4. Cincinnati is off tonight.
