News:
The High School Football regular season is quickly winding down with just two wees left. Week 8 is this Friday night and the Mt. Vernon Wildcats will be home against Gibson Southern. Tomorrow night is also Senior Night for the Wildcats Football team and kickoff is set for 6:30 PM. Mt. Vernon is 4-3 on the year and Gibson Southern has a record of 5-2.
North Posey Football will also be at home tomorrow night against Southridge at 6:30 PM. It is Senior Night for the Vikings as well. North Posey is 6-1 on the season and Southridge is 5-2.
The IHSAA Football Sectional Draw is this Sunday evening. On Tuesday, the updated AP High School Football rankings were released heading into Week 8. In Class 5A, North is 11th and Castle is 12th. Class 4A has Reitz 2nd and Memorial is 8th. Moving on to Class 3A where Gibson Southern is 6th, Heritage Hills 7th, Southridge and Vincennes are tied for 15th. In Class 2A, North Posey is 4th.
North Posey Baseball is having a golf scramble coming up on Saturday, October 14th. It will be held at Quail Crossing in Boonville. There are still a few slots available, and they ask that you sign up by this Friday. You can visit the North Posey Baseball Facebook page for registration information and the link to register.
Just a couple of days left for the Evansville Fall Festival. Be sure to check out the Posey County Booths along West Franklin Street. Newlife Rescue and Adoption Booth #50. The are in front of Paul’s Menswear. They will be serving BBQ pulled pork nachos and sliced apples with caramel cheesecake dip. This is the first time they have had a booth at the Fall Fest, so be sure to check them out.
St. Phillip Catholic Church/School is Booth #92 which is located near the stage. They have Bosco sticks, deep fried pickle spears, deep fried cheese curds, the only booth with burgoo, and cheesy westside pork bites.
St. Peter’s UCC, Wadesville Booth #109 will have ham and beans, chicken and dumplings, tenderloin sandwich, and fish sandwich. Their booth is bright orange.
Sports Tonight:
- Mt. Vernon Volleyball travels to North. The JV match is a 6:00 PM and the Varsity match will follow about 7:30 PM.
- USI Women’s Soccer (2-6-4) is on the road to battle Western Illinois. That match started at 3:00 PM.
- USI Men’s Soccer (1-8) plays at Houston Christian University at 7:00 PM.
- Week 5 of the NFL Regular Season begins this evening with Thursday Night Football and the Chicago Bears (0-4) are at the Washington Commanders (2-2) at 7:15 PM.
Sports From Wednesday:
- North Posey Girls Soccer lost their first round Sectional match against Tell City, 3-1. The Vikings finished with a 4-10-2 record.
- North Posey Volleyball (23-5) lost at home against Jasper in straight sets.
