The West Side Nut Club Fall Festival gets underway this Sunday with Family Day. Half pot tickets will go on sale today at noon. Officials with the West Side Nut Club say presale wristbands are available now as well for a discounted price. If you're planning on spending some time on the rides during this year's Fall Festival, you can get an unlimited ride wristband for $25 until midnight on Sunday. The Nut Club says this is a chance to save $5 off the regular price by purchasing ahead of time online.
If you're hoping to grab lunch at the upcoming West Side Nut Club Fall Festival, the City of Evansville will be offering a convenient way to get there. During the Fall Festival from Monday through Friday, the City of Evansville will be offering a lunchtime shuttle service from 11:00 AM through 2:00 PM. Each day, every half hour from 11:00 AM through 2:00 PM the shuttle will pick up and drop off from the C.K. Newsome Community Center on the “back 40” parking lot, then at the Civic Center, at the exit of the parking lot at Ninth Street, and near the flagpoles on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The shuttle will pick up and drop off at the Temporary Bus Stop corner of West Franklin Street and Wabash Avenue on the quarter hour, with the first drop off at 11:15 AM and the last departure at 1:45 PM.
A reminder that there are two Posey County High School Football players up for the Week 6 Courier and Press Player of the Week Award. Those 2 players are North Posey’s Jed Galvin and Mt. Vernon’s Grant Lippe. You can vote as much as you would like at courierpress.com until 10:00 AM tomorrow.
The updated Indiana Football Coaches Association rankings were released earlier this week, and the North Posey Vikings are ranked 7th in Class 2A. Other tri-state teams that are ranked includes Castle at 6th in Class 5A. Reitz has dropped to 6th in Class 4A. In Class 3A, Memorial is still 1st, Heritage Hills 2nd, Mater Dei 4th, Gibson Southern 6th, and Southridge is 12th.
Tomorrow night, North Posey Football heads to Forest Park for a 6:30 PM kickoff. The Vikings are 5-1 on the year and the Rangers are 4-2. Jordan Fisher and Chris Morlan will have the radio coverage on 98.9 FM WPIW and online at poseycountyradio.com.
Mt. Vernon plays at Heritage Hills tomorrow evening at 7:00 PM. The Wildcats have a record of 4-2 and the Patriots sit at 5-1. Chris Cooke and Allen Buck will have the radio call on 106.7 FM WMVI and online at poseycountyradio.com.
Sports:
Last night in local high school sports…North Posey Volleyball took care of Boonville on the road in straight sets. The Vikings improve to 16-6 on the season. North Posey Girls Soccer got beat by Heritage Hills at home, 3-0. The Lady Vikings fall to 8-6 overall.
Coming up this evening in local high school action…North Posey Volleyball plays Forest Park at home. The JV match will get underway at 5:30 PM and the Varsity match will follow around 7:00 PM. Mt. Vernon Volleyball heads to Mater Dei for a 6:00 PM JV match and a 7:30 PM Varsity match. Wildcats Boys Soccer journeys to Washington at 6:15 PM. North Posey and Mt. Vernon Boys Tennis play each other in Sectionals at Mt. Vernon.
