Posey County Emergency Management says that a boil advisory is in effect for German Township Water customers located on Old Hwy 62 from Ford Road to West Franklin Road, South to Smith Diamond Road, and East to Posey County Line Road. They say this temporary precautionary measure is recommended due to a water main leak in their distribution system. Updated information regarding the boil advisory will be made available on their website at germantownshipwaterdistrict.org, as well as on the company telephone message system at 812-963-6403.
The Posey County Health Department says they are excited to announce that will be working with the Deaconess Mobile Mammogram program to provide screening mammograms for any woman from Posey County that does not have insurance, or insurance that does not cover screening mammograms. This has been made possible through funding provided by the Health First Indiana initiative to improve public health throughout the state of Indiana. To discuss the process of scheduling your mammogram, please call 812-838-1328 and talk to the county health care nurse.
The Mt. Vernon Parks and Recreation Department says they are now accepting applications for Brittlebank Pool workers and seasonal maintenance workers. Applications can be turned in to the Parks Office or via email at mvparksandrecreation@gmail.com.
Coming up this evening at Mt. Vernon High School, Mt. Vernon High School Performing Arts will be putting on a production of Grease the musical. There will be shows tonight, tomorrow, and Saturday evening at 7:00 PM. There is also a performance on Saturday at 2:00 PM. Adult tickets are 10 dollars and student tickets are 5 dollars.
The West Side Nut Club announced that they will be hosting their 77th annual Easter Egg Hunt on March 23rd. According to a press release, the Easter egg hunt will take place at Mater Dei High school at 1:00 PM. Nut Club members say they will be stuffing nearly 13,000 eggs with candy and prize tags. Prizes include local gift cards, candy baskets, stuffed animals and other prizes. Specials guests will include Barny, Baby Bob, Shrek, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Big Bird and the Easter Bunny. Officials say age groups include preschool, kindergarten and first through third grade students.
In local sports from last night, Evansville Baseball defeated SEMO 6-5 in 10 innings. The Purple Aces improve to 8-8 and will travel to Michigan State for a 3-game series that starts tomorrow afternoon.
From the NBA last night, the Indiana Pacers failed to win their third-straight game as they lost a tough one at home in overtime to the Chicago Bulls, 132-129. Myler Turner had 27 points in the loss for Indiana. The Pacers drop to 37-30 and will play again on Saturday at home against the Brooklyn Nets.
