Six individuals and one team have been selected to be inducted into the 2025 University of Southern Indiana Athletic Hall of Fame in February.
Here is the 2025 USI Athletic Hall of Fame Class:
- Angie Gries: Women’s Soccer (1996-1999)
- Julie Kohnen: Women’s Soccer, Cross Country and Track & Field (2010-2015)
- Travis Marx: Men’s Soccer (1982-1992)
- Greg Tassios: Men’s Soccer (1981-1982)
- Chris Thompson: Men’s Basketball (2004-2006)
- Rodney Watson: Men’s Basketball Head Coach (2009-2020)
- The 2014 NCAA Division II Baseball National Championship Team
Officials say USI is also inducting John Deem, William “Bill” Wilson and Dan Egierski into the Athletic Hall of Distinction for contributions to the success of the University’s varsity programs.
Any Screaming Eagles fan was eligible to nominate student athletes or teams on the 10th anniversary of their last season of competition. Coaches and administrators are also eligible for nomination if they have been separated from USI Athletics for two years. The inductees are then selected by a nine-member USI Athletic Hall of Fame Committee.

Schedule update for Christmas on Main Street this weekend in Mt. Vernon. Organizers say with the rain chances for Saturday afternoon, they are making a few changes in order maximize fun for this weekend. The Jeep Jamboree has been moved to Sunday from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM. They are moving the 5 hours of ice rink time to Sunday as well, which means the ice rink will be open from 9:00 AM until 7:00 PM. They have a tent for the Kids Party, so that will remain on Saturday from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM. The parade and tree lighting will remain on Saturday as well starting at 7:00 PM.
This Friday night, the 5th annual Santa Stroll will brighten up Main Street in Evansville from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. The event, which is put on by the Downtown Evansville Economic Improvement District, will feature several costumed characters who will greet visitors and pose for photos. Event organizers say guests will stroll along Main Street starting at Riverside Drive and enjoy holiday decorations and numerous lighting displays. Free hot chocolate will be served on Main Street in front of the Innovation Pointe Building. EID officials say volunteers will hand out free ornaments, crafts and stickers to children at some of the lighting installations. The Lloyd Expressway is expected to be reduced to a single lane in each direction this coming weekend between Vann Avenue and Stockwell Road. According to a press release, the closure will begin on Friday and last until Monday morning. Crews will close all but one lane on both the east and westbound Lloyd Expressway near Vann Avenue for storm sewer work underneath the roadway. INDOT officials urge drivers to pay attention to new signs directing traffic for the new shift. They say traffic will return to this pattern once this weekend’s utility work is complete. Drivers should plan for extra travel time when using the Lloyd Expressway.
Coming up tonight in local high school basketball…North Posey Girls Basketball is home against Washington. The JV game starts at 5:00 PM and the Varsity game will follow at 6:30 PM. Last night in Men’s College Basketball…#5 Kentucky took care of business at home over Colgate, 78-67. The Cats improve to 9-1 and will be home against Louisville on Saturday.
Louisville escaped UTEP at home, 77-74 to improve to 6-4 on the year.
Notre Dame handled Dartmouth at home, 77-65. The Fighting Irish run their record to 6-5 and will play host to Le Moyne on Sunday.
This evening in Men’s College Basketball…the Evansville Purple Aces are home at Ford Center against Chattanooga at 7:00. UE is trying to avoid a 3rd-straight loss as they have a record of 3-6 on the season.
