Today is the first day of school for MSD of Mt. Vernon students as they round out the return for Posey County students. MSD of North Posey students returned to the classroom yesterday. Everyone here at Posey County Radio hopes students and teachers have a great 2024-2025 school year.

 

Football season is right around the corner and coming up this Saturday the Mt. Vernon Wildcats are having a scrimmage night at the high school football field. 3rd and 4th graders will get a chance to scrimmage against each other from 5:30 PM until 6:00 PM. Then 5th and 6th graders will play from 6:00 PM until 6:30 PM. There will be junior high recognition at 6:30 PM and then the high school team will scrimmage until about 7:30 PM. There will be concessions available. They will be brought to you by the M-Club. They will have burgers, hotdogs, popcorn, candy, and drinks.

 

Junior and Senior students at the University of Evansville now have new housing options. Lincoln Commons, on the corner of Weinbach and Lincoln Avenue, is now ready and available for students to move into. The complex offers one, two, and four-bedroom apartments with a kitchen, washer and dryer, and full-size beds and can house over 120 junior and senior students. University President Chris Pietruszkiewicz says the housing was designed to prepare upper classmen for moving out into the real world. Qdoba and Orange Leaf will also be opening up in the complex. Students will begin moving in next weekend.

 

The St. Louis Cardinals earned a 5-2 victory last night at home over the Tampa Bay Rays. The Cardinals are now 59-56 on the season and sit 2 games back of the Braves for the final Wild Card spot in the National League. St. Louis goes for a 3-game sweep of the Rays at home this evening at 6:15 PM.

The Chicago Cubs breezed past the Minnesota Twins in Chicago on Wednesday, 8-2. The Cubs improve their record to 57-60 on the year. They enjoy today off before playing at the Chicago White Sox on Friday.

The Cincinnati Reds got tripped up in Miami last night by the Marlins, 6-4. Cincy drops to 55-59 on the season. The two teams wrap up their four-game series tonight at 5:10 PM.
