Mt. Vernon High School announced today that their Football game tomorrow at South Spencer has been pushed back to an 8:00 PM kickoff due to the extreme heat. Earlier this week it was also announced that the North Posey Football game at Princeton this Friday night has also been pushed back to 8:00 PM. EVSC Athletics officials say all SIAC football games have been pushed back Friday as well. Both the Jasper at Harrison game and the Vincennes Lincoln at Reitz game are now at 7:30 PM. Bosse at Central and North at Memorial are at 8:00 PM. EVSC officials say potentially postponing the games till Saturday is not out of the question. If the heat index is not below 105, then officials say they would have to play Saturday. So, this is a fluid situation.

The University of Evansville made an exciting announcement yesterday for their university and also the city of Evansville. The 2024 MVC Baseball Tournament will be held at Charles H. Braun Stadium on campus, May 21st through the 25th. It’s the first time since 1998 that the University will host the conference Baseball tournament. 8 teams from the conference will play in Evansville, with the winner guaranteed a spot in the NCAA Division One Baseball Tournament. The announcement comes less than three months after UE was one game away from winning the title and advancing to the Division One Tournament.  They fell short to Indiana State at Bob Warn Field in Terre Haute. Recent renovations to the stadium have helped create this opportunity for the Purple Aces.

North Posey Cheerleading is having a Viking Cheer Youth Clinic this Saturday. It is for grades K-8 and the clinic will last from 8:30 AM until 12:00 PM. For 20 dollars, participants will learn chants, a cheer, a halftime performance, and more. The youth performances will be on Monday August 28th at the JV Football game against Princeton and Friday September 1st at the Varsity Football game against South Spencer. There is a registration link for this Saturday’s clinic on the North Posey Cheerleading Facebook page.

The 48th Frog Follies are coming up this weekend at the Vanderburgh 4-H Center. The classic cars that are expected to rumble into the Tri-State this weekend are known as hot rods, which is fitting considering temperatures will be near the triple digits. The event is scheduled to run this Friday through Sunday at the Vanderburgh 4-H Center. Organizers estimate nearly 3,000 street rods will be there, along with food and live music. Admission is $7 per person and those that are 12 years and younger get in for free.
