The North Posey Vikings Football team will play for a Sectional Championship this Friday night at home against Paoli. The Vikings beat Mater Dei this past Friday at The Bowl on the west side of Evansville, 35-34 in overtime. North Posey trailed 28-14 in the 4th quarter but was able to eventually tie the game with 1:09 left in the game. Jed Galvin had the game-tying touchdown. Then in overtime, Galvin scored the go-ahead touchdown, and the Vikings defense was able to stop Mater Dei on a 2-point conversion after the Wildcats scored. North Posey is now 10-1 on the year and will play 10-1 Paoli at home this Friday night for the Class 2A Sectional 40 Championship.

Other High School Football Sectional Championship games this Friday with local tri-state teams includes a Class 5A matchup with North at Castle. In Class 4A, Reitz will play at Memorial. Class 3A locally will see Vincennes at Gibson Southern and Heritage Hills traveling to Scottsburg.

 

The Posey County Solid Waste District says the November Tox-away day will be this Thursday, November 2nd from 2:00-6:00 PM at the Mt. Vernon recycling center. With the first freeze of the season this week, the Evansville Water and Sewer Utility is reminding customers to do what they can to avoid frozen pipes. The most obvious, make sure your garden hoses are disconnected. Officials also say you should deactivate your lawn irrigation system and winterize the backflow assembly.

 

Week 8 of the NFL yesterday saw the Colts lose their 3rd-straight game at home to the Saints, 38-27. Indy drops to 3-5 on the year. They play at Carolina on Sunday. The Tennessee Titans picked up a home win against the Atlanta Falcons, 28-23. Titans Quarterback Will Levis threw 4 touchdowns. Tennessee improves to 3-4 and will head to Pittsburgh for Thursday Night Football this week. The Cincinnati Bengals earned a 3rd-straight win at the San Francisco 49ers, 31-17. Cincy runs their record to 4-3 and welcomes the Bills this week on Sunday Night Football. It was a struggle for the Green Bay Packers as they got tripped up at home by the Minnesota Vikings, 24-10. Packers tumble to 2-5 on the year and welcome the Rams this Sunday. Finishing up with the Chicago Bears as they played on Sunday Night Football last night and got pounded by the Los Angeles Chargers in LA, 30-13. Chicago is 2-6 and will journey to New Orleans this week on Sunday.
