Coming up tonight here on Posey County Radio it’s both the Mt. Vernon and North Posey Football Coaches Show at 5:30 PM. The Mt. Vernon show can be heard on 106.7 FM WMVI and online at poseycountyradio.com. Allen Buck will talk with Wildcats Head Coach Justin Fisher live from United Fidelity Bank. Mt. Vernon lost on Friday at home against Heritage Hills, 48-3 to drop to 4-3 on the year. They host Gibson Southern this Friday night.

The North Posey Coaches Show tonight with Jordan Fisher and Vikings Head Coach Waylon Schenk can be found on 98.9 FM WPIW and online at poseycountyradio.com. They will broadcast the show live from the Wheelhouse. North Posey hammered Forest Park at home this past Friday, 41-7 to improve to 6-1 on the season. The Vikings are home against Southridge this Friday evening.

 

The North Posey Boys Tennis team won their sectional championship match on Saturday. They defeated Mater Dei 3-2 in the Sectional 10 Championship match hosted by Mt. Vernon High School. For the Vikings Tennis program, it’s their first sectional championship in 13 years. North Posey Boys Tennis will play Gibson Southern in the Regional Semifinal tomorrow night.

 

The West Side Nut Club Fall Festival has returned for its 102nd year. The Half Pot sales kicked off the event this morning at 10:00 AM. All rides opened at 2:00 PM. The University of Evansville and USI basketball teams will be out on Franklin Street for a meet and greet at 6:00 PM this evening. The lighthouse parade starts at 7:00 PM and then at 8:00 PM amateur hour night one starts.

Throughout the week there will be shuttles to and from the Fall Festival. A lunch and evening shuttle service will be available. The lunch shuttle will operate between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM, stopping at the CK Newsome Center every 30 minutes. Standard fees are required for the shuttle. An evening express shuttle will also be available from 5:15 PM until 10:30 PM Monday through Thursday and until 11:00 PM on Friday and Saturday. That route will start at Lynch Road. Both routes will drop off at the corner of West Franklin and Wabash Avenue.

Sports Tonight:

  • Mt. Vernon Boys Soccer plays Heritage Hills in the first round of sectionals at 5:00 PM. The Wildcats play in the Class 2A Sectional 32 hosted by Memorial High School.
  • North Posey Volleyball is home against Princeton. The JV match is at 5:30 PM and the Varsity match will follow around 7:00 PM.
  • Mt. Vernon JV Football hits the road to Heritage Hills at 6:00 PM.
  • North Posey JV Football travels to Forest Park for a 5:30 PM game.

Yesterday, the IHSAA released the sectional brackets for the Volleyball sectionals coming up soon. In the Class 3A Sectional 32 at Gibson Southern High School, the Mt. Vernon Wildcats drew Memorial in the first round. They will be the second match of the evening next Thursday, October 12th.

In the Class 2A Sectional 48 at Forest Park, the North Posey Vikings will play Crawford County in the first round. The Vikings will also be the second match of the evening next Thursday, October 12th.

 

Sports From Sunday:

  • USI Men’s Soccer (1-8, 0-2) lost at Lindenwood, 1-0.
  • USI Women’s Soccer (2-6-4, 1-1-1) defeated Morehead State at home, 2-1.
  • Evansville Women’s Soccer (0-3-8, 0-0-5) tied Belmont 1-1 at home.

 

  • The Indianapolis Colts (2-2) lost at home in overtime against the Los Angeles Rams, 29-23. Colts trailed 23-0 in the 3rd quarter and was able to storm back to tie the game inside of two minutes, but eventually lost in overtime. Colts Rookie Quarterback Anthony Richardson threw for 200 yards and 2 touchdowns, while also rushing for 56 yards and a score. Indy is home again on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans for Week 5.

 

  • Despite a strong day from Quarterback Justin Fields, the Chicago Bears (0-4) failed to grab their first win of the year as they got clipped by the Denver Broncos, 31-28. Fields was 28-for-35 passing for 335 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 1 interception. Up next for Chicago, they are at Washington on Thursday Night Football.

 

  • No contest in Nashville as the Tennessee Titans (2-2) blast the Cincinnati Bengals (1-3), 27-3. Derek Henry ran for 122 yards and a touchdown, while Ryan Tannehill passed for 240 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception. Titans are at the Colts on Sunday and the Bengals will travel to Arizona to see the Cardinals on Sunday.

 

  • The St. Louis Cardinals (71-91) finished the regular season with a win at home over the Cincinnati Reds (82-80), 4-3. The Redbirds took 2-of-3 in the series.

 

  • The Chicago Cubs (83-79) got blanked in Milwaukee by the Brewers, 4-0.

 

  • The Cardinals, Cubs and Reds all miss out on the playoffs this year. The Wild Card Round of the playoffs get underway on Tuesday.
