Some news from late last week, the Mt. Vernon Police Department said that they are proud to announce the promotions of three of their officers. Officer Darrin Lemberg, Officer Brandon Brauser, and Officer Brandon Woodley were all promoted to the rank of Sergeant. This announcement was made at Thursday’s Board of Public Works meeting.
The North Posey Volleyball team saw their great season come to an end over the weekend as they lost their first Regional Match Saturday morning. The Vikings lost in 5-sets against Linton-Stockton. North Posey finishes the year with a 28-7 record.
The first round of High School Football Sectionals were this past Friday and the North Posey Vikings are moving on in Class 2A. The Vikings went to Perry Central and cruised to a 55-8 win. North Posey is now 9-1 on the season and will play at Mater Dei in the second round of the Class 2A Sectional 40 this Friday night. The Vikings defense is up for this week’s News 25 Home Team Friday MVP award. They allowed just eight points, collected three fumbles, and had two sacks in Friday night’s victory. Viking fans can vote at tristatehomepage.com. The poll closes tomorrow at noon.
The Mt. Vernon Football team saw their season come to an end with a first-round loss at Gibson Southern on Friday. The Wildcats got beat 40-7. They finish with a 5-5 record. You will be able to hear the final Mt. Vernon Football Coaches Show of the year tonight on 106.7 FM WMVI and online at poseycountyradio.com at 5:30 PM. The show with Allen Buck and Head Coach Justin Fischer will be live at United Fidelity Bank in Mt. Vernon.

Week 7 of the NFL was yesterday, and the Colts suffered a tough 39-38 loss at home against the Cleveland Browns. The Browns scored the go-ahead touchdown with 15 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Indy drops to 3-4 and Cleveland improves to 4-2. The Chicago Bears earned a win at home over the Las Vegas Raiders, 30-12. Chicago is now 2-5 on the year. The Green Bay Packers got tripped up in Denver by the Broncos, 19-17. Packers stumble to 2-4 on the season. The Tennessee Titans and Cincinnati Bengals were off in week 7.
