This past Friday, the High School Football regular season came to an end. The North Posey Vikings won their regular season finale at home against Pike Central, 45-14. The Vikings went 7-2 during the regular season and now turn their attention to the postseason. Their first-round sectional game will be this Friday night at South Vermillion. North Posey plays in the Class 2A Sectional 39.

The Mt. Vernon Wildcats closed the regular season with a 42-13 victory at home over Princeton. The Wildcats went 5-4 in the regular season. Their first-round sectional game is the Friday evening at Southridge. Mt. Vernon plays in the Class 3A Sectional 32.

Coming up tonight here on Posey County Radio, we will have the Mt. Vernon and North Posey Football Coaches Shows from 5:30 PM until 6:00 PM. The Mt. Vernon Coaches Show can be found on 106.7 FM WMVI and online at poseycountyradio.com. Allen Buck will be joined by Wildcats Head Coach Justin Fischer, and they will broadcast live at United Fidelity Bank in Mt. Vernon. The North Posey Coaches Show will be on 98.9 FM WPIW and online at poseycountyradio.com with Jordan Fisher and Vikings Head Coach Waylon Schenk. They will broadcast the show live from Straws Scoops in Poseyville.

 

North Posey Volleyball saw their season come to an end on Saturday as they lost in the Sectional Semi-Finals to Mater Dei in 4-sets. The Vikings finished with an impressive record of 24-7.

 

The Posey County Sheriff’s Office says they have two open positions for anyone interested in being a jail officer. You can apply in person, or by downloading their free app…Posey County Sheriff’s Office. Choose the “Join Our Team” tab and scroll to “Jail Officer.” Starting pay is $43,790.00 with advancement opportunity. The position also offers medical, dental, and eye insurance.  

 

The West Side Nut Club will be holding a press conference to "provide detailed information" on this year's half-pot. According to the Nut Club, a press conference will be held this Tuesday at 4:30 PM.  It will be at the West Side Nut Club Office, which is located at North 11th Avenue and West Franklin Street. During this year's Fall Festival, the Nut Club Half-Pot surpassed the $2 million mark, which beat last year's total pot by around $200,000.

 

“Boo at the Zoo” made its return to the Mesker Park Zoo on Friday and was held throughout the weekend. The event continues through next weekend as well on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Families are invited to come out and wear their costumes for all kinds of fun at the zoo. Tickets are live and can only be purchased online directly from the Mesker Park Zoo website. The hours for the event on Friday and Saturday are from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Sunday from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM.

 

In Week 7 of the NFL on Sunday…the Indianapolis Colts scratched out a 16-10 win at home against the Miami Dolphins. Colts Quarterback Anthony Richardson was just 10-for-24 for 129 yards. Indy has won back-to-back games to improve to 4-3 on the year. The Colts play at the Houston Texans next week.

The Tennessee Titans got walloped in Buffalo by the Bills, 34-10. Mason Rudolph made the start at Quarterback for the Titans and went 25-for-40 for 215 yards. Rudolph threw one touchdown and one interception. Tennessee falls to 1-5 and will be at the Detroit Lions for their Week 8 game on Sunday.

In Green Bay…the Packers got a 45-yard field goal from Brandon McManus as time expired to defeat the Houston Texans, 24-22. Packers Quarterback Jordan Love finished 24-for-33 for 220 yards. Love threw 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Green Bay is now 5-2 overall and will be on the road in Jacksonville to battle the Jaguars on Sunday.

The Cincinnati Bengals went to Cleveland and topped the Browns, 21-14. Bengals Quarterback Joe Burrow threw a pair of touchdowns in the win and finished 15-for-25 for 181 yards. After an 0-3 start, Cincinnati is now 3-4 on the year. They return home on Sunday to face off against the Philadelphia Eagles.

 

In Major League Baseball, the Fall Classic is set. It will be a battle of West Coast vs East Coast with the Los Angeles Dodgers against the New York Yankees. The Yankees won Game 5 of the ALCS in Cleveland on Saturday and beat the Guardians 4-1 in the series. The Dodgers took out the New York Mets last night in Game 6 of the NLCS to win that series, 4-2. Game 1 of the World Series will be Friday evening in Los Angeles.
