News:

North Posey Volleyball won the Class 2A Sectional 48 over the weekend at Forest Park High School. On Saturday morning the Vikings beat Tell City in straight sets in their semi-final match. Then in the championship match Saturday night, North Posey beat Perry Central in straight sets. The scores in the championship were 25-9, 25-13, and 25-12. The Vikings are now 28-6 on the year and will play in the Regionals this Saturday at Mitchell High School. They will play the Linton Stockton Miners at 10:00 AM. Linton is 29-4 on the year. If North Posey wins that match, they will play the winner of Brownstown Central and South Ripley at 6:00 PM Saturday night.

 

The Posey County Commissioners are now accepting resumes for the position of Posey County Emergency Management Agency Director. This position will work full time Monday through Friday, 35 hours per week, but would be on call for qualifying emergencies. Please submit all resumes via mail or in person to the Posey County Auditor's Office at 126 E Third Street Room 220 Mount Vernon, IN 47620 no later than Friday, October 27th, 2023.

 

The University of Southern Indiana's Sexual Assault and Gender Violence Prevention Group will be hosting their annual Flowers on the Lake ceremony at 4:30 PM tomorrow. The ceremony is held in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month and is open to the public free of charge. The annual event is to honor those who have lost their lives to domestic violence and raise awareness about the warning signs of relationship abuse. Guests will be able to scatter petals on top of the water in honor of the survivors and in memory of those lost. 

 

Coming up tonight here on Posey County Radio, you can hear both the Mt. Vernon and North Posey Football Coaches Show at 5:30 PM. The Mt. Vernon show can be found on 106.7 FM WMVI. Allen Buck will talk with Wildcats Head Coach Justin Fisher live from United Fidelity Bank in Mt. Vernon. The Wildcats ended the regular season on Friday with a 38-0 win at Princeton to finish at 5-4. They will begin Sectional play this Friday night at Gibson Southern.

The North Posey Football show is on 98.9 FM WPIW and is broadcasted live from The Wheelhouse. Jordan Fisher will chat with Vikings Head Coach Waylon Schenk. North Posey thumped Pike Central on the road Friday, 70-0 and they finished with an 8-1 record. The Vikings begin Sectional play at Perry Central this Friday evening.

Sports:

  • Evansville Women’s Soccer (1-5-8, 1-2-5) fell on the road to Drake, 1-0.
  • USI Women’s Soccer (4-6-6, 3-1-3) battled UT Martin to a 1-1 tie on the road.
  • USI Men’s Soccer (1-9-3, 0-3-3) tied Liberty at home, 1-1.

 

  • Week 6 in the NFL yesterday saw the Colts (3-3) lose in Jacksonville to the Jaguars, 37-20…the Titans (2-4) got tripped up by Baltimore in London, 24-16…The Bears (1-5) lost at home to the Vikings, 19-13…and Cincinnati (3-3) earned a win at home over the Seahawks, 17-13.
