For the first time in 18 years, USI Baseball is searching for a new Head Coach. This past Friday it was announced that Tracy Archuleta will be the new Head Coach of Indiana State Baseball. Archuleta led USI to two Division II National Championships (2010 and 2014) and is the winningest coach in USI program history with a 571-383 record over his 18 seasons. USI moved to Division I in 2023. The Eagles went 44-70 over the past two seasons and finished third in this season's Ohio Valley Conference Tournament this past year. Archuleta replaces longtime Sycamores Head Coach Mitch Hannahs in Terre Haute, who left to be the Head Coach of South Florida Baseball.
Coming up tomorrow evening is another Poseyville Farmer’s Market Night. It will take place on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Community Center which is located at 60 North Church Street in Poseyville. The theme is Fossil Fun Fair, which includes digging and decorating. Kids will have the chance to pan for treasure and keep what they find.
The west side of Evansville could be getting an Olive Garden soon. Documents filed with the department of homeland security states plans are in the works for it to move into the old O’Charley’s building. That’s on the corner of Pearl Drive and Red Bank Road. The former O’Charley’s closed a year ago this month. A timeline for when Olive Garden will move in and open has not yet been released. This will make it the second Olive Garden in Evansville.
The St. Louis Cardinals completed a three-game sweep of the San Francisco Giants on Sunday at Busch Stadium, 5-3. The Cardinals improve to 39-37 on the year. They will start a new three-game series tonight at home against the Atlanta Braves at 6:45 PM. Catch the game on 106.7 FM WMVI with the pregame show starting at 5:50 PM.
The Chicago Cubs fell at home on Sunday Night Baseball to the New York Mets, 5-2. The Cubs lost 2-of-3 in the series and are now 37-41 on the season. Chicago heads out west to face the San Francisco Giants this evening at 8:45 PM.
The Cincinnati Reds dropped their finale at home against the Boston Red Sox, 7-4. Cincy is now 36-41 on the year. The Reds remain at home tonight and begin a series with the Pittsburgh Pirates at 6:10 PM.
The College Baseball season comes to an end tonight with Game 3 of the Championship Series in Omaha…Tennessee and Texas A&M do battle at 6:00 PM. Texas A&M won the first game on Friday, 9-5…and Tennessee won yesterday, 4-1.
