Over the weekend, Mt. Vernon Boys Basketball picked up a pair of wins. The Wildcats went to Tell City on Friday night and defeated the Marksmen, 64-48 and followed that up with a 61-58 victory at home against Pike Central on Saturday. Mt. Vernon has now won 6 of their last 7 games as they are 10-7 on the season. They play again on Thursday at Princeton.

Coming up tonight on 106.7 FM WMVI it’s the Mt. Vernon Basketball Coaches Show at 6:00 PM. Allen Buck will talk with Wildcats Head Coach Joe Newcomb live from United Fidelity Bank. The show can also be heard online at poseycountyradio.com.

 

North Posey Boys Basketball saw their 5-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday with a 54-34 loss at Princeton. The loss drops the Vikings to 12-3 on the year. North Posey is back in action on Thursday at home against Pike Central.

 

Postseason play begins this week for all of the girls’ basketball teams across the state of Indiana. The Mt. Vernon Girls Basketball team will start sectional play on Tuesday against Bosse at 6:00 PM. This is a part of the Class 3A Sectional 32 at Gibson Southern. The Wildcats beat Bosse earlier this year on the road, 33-26. Chris Cooke and Allen Buck will have the radio broadcast tomorrow night on 106.7 FM WMVI and online at poseycountyradio.com.

North Posey Girls Basketball will play their first sectional game on Tuesday against Crawford County at 7:00 PM. They are in the Class 2A Sectional 48 at South Spencer High School. The Vikings lost at Crawford County in the regular season, 50-47. You will be able to hear the game on 98.9 FM WPIW and online at poseycountyradio.com with Chris Morlan on the radio call.

 

Super Bowl 58 in Las Vegas is set…on Sunday February 11th the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers will meet for a chance to win it all. Last night, the Chiefs beat the Ravens in Baltimore, 17-10 and the 49ers won in San Francisco against the Detroit Lions, 34-31.

 

From the NBA on the Sunday, the Indiana Pacers won their 3rd-straight game as they topped the Memphis Grizzlies at home, 116-110. Bennedict Mathurin led Indiana with 24 points off the bench. The Pacers run their record to 27-20.
