Today will be very cold with Highs in the mid to upper 20s under mostly cloudy skies. A significant snow event is looking more likely as we approach Tuesday into Wednesday. A Winter Storm Watch is already in effect for the majority of the Tri-State from Tuesday from 3:00 AM until Wednesday at 9:00 AM. Right now, 4-8 inches of snowfall is expected with hazardous travel both days. Temperatures will remain below normal with highs in the low to mid 20s and overnight lows in the single digits/teens throughout the week.
This past Saturday, North Posey Girls Basketball saw their season come to an end in the Regional Round of the IHSAA Tournament as they fell to Brownstown Central, 46-25. The Lady Vikings finished with a 19-7 record.
The Wrestling Semi-State was held over the weekend at Ford Center in downtown Evansville and Posey County has one wrestler advancing to the State Finals. Tyson Barrow won his first two matches on Saturday, which punched his ticket to the State Finals. In the first match he won by a major decision of 11-0 and won his ticket round match 1-0. Barrow ended up placing fourth and will wrestle at State next Friday night in Indianapolis at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
North Posey Boys Basketball lost their lone game over the weekend at Southridge on Friday, 55-46. The Vikings drop to 10-9 overall and will play Day School at home on Friday.
Mt. Vernon Boys Basketball got tripped up at home on Friday against Boonville, 51-46. The Wildcats now sit at 9-11 on the year and will head to Mater Dei tomorrow night.
Mt. Vernon High School has announced a Class of 2029 Information Night for next Monday, February 24th at 6:00 PM. This will be a parent information session for incoming freshmen, and anyone interested in attending Mt. Vernon High School. It will be held in the Mt. Vernon Cafeteria. The evening will be a chance to meet high school staff and administration, learn about curriculum, extracurricular activities, and career pathways.
From local sports yesterday…Evansville Men’s Basketball ended a 3-game losing streak as they defeated Valparaiso at home, 79-69. The Aces swept the regular season series against the Beacons. UE improves to 10-16 overall and 7-9 in the MVC. They will play at Indiana State on Wednesday at 6:00 PM.
