Over the weekend, the North Posey Girls Basketball team won the Class 2A Sectional 48 hosted by Forest Park High School. The Lady Vikings defeated Perry Central in the championship game on Saturday, 52-28. They now have a record of 19-6 and will play in Regionals this coming Saturday. It was the first sectional title for North Posey Girls Basketball since 2015. North Posey will take on Brownstown Central at 3:00 PM Central Time on Saturday at West Washington High School. Brownstown Central is 21-5 overall.
The High School Wrestling Regionals took place this past Saturday and Posey County has several wrestlers that are moving on to Semi-State. North Posey’s Aslan Templeton finished in 4th place in 126 pounds weight class and is moving on. So is Asa Spencer in the 144 pounds weight class as he finished in 3rd place over the weekend and Tyson Barrow finished in 1st place in the 175 pounds weight class.
Mt. Vernon also has three wrestlers moving on to Semi-State…Brendan Hubbard finished as Regional Runner-Up, Eastin Hall finished in 3rd place, and Jayden Stillwagoner finished in 4th place.
Semi-State Wrestling takes place at Ford Center in downtown Evansville this coming Saturday.
Coming up tonight here on Posey County Radio, you can listen to both Mt. Vernon and North Posey Basketball Coaches Shows. The North Posey Show starts at 5:30 PM on 98.9 FM WPIW and online at poseycountyradio.com. Jordan Fisher will host the show and will talk with Boys Basketball Head Coach, Rusty Seymour and Girls Basketball Head Coach, Kevin Kolb. As the girls’ team gets ready for their regional game on Saturday, the boys’ team has a busy week. They will play at Mt. Carmel on Tuesday, at Southridge on Friday, and take on Perry Central at home on Saturday. The Vikings sit at 9-8 on the season.
Allen Buck will host the Mt. Vernon Coaches Show at 6:00 PM on 106.7 FM WMVI and online at poseycountyradio.com. Allen will talk with Wildcats Head Coach Joe Newcomb as his team sits at a 9-9 mark and will play a pair of games this week. They will travel to Memorial on Tuesday and then welcome Boonville on Friday.
