Mother nature has thrown a wrench into tonight’s plans for Week 6 of the High School Football season. This evening’s Mt. Vernon Football game at home against Boonville has been postponed. The Wildcats and Pioneers will now play tomorrow at 11:00 AM. Chris Cooke and Allen Buck will still have you covered on the radio tomorrow on 106.7 FM WMVI and online at poseycountyradio.com. Their pregame show will get underway tomorrow at 10:45 AM. Mt. Vernon is 3-2 on the season and Boonville is 2-3.
The Mt. Vernon Cheer Clinic that was supposed to take place tonight with the Football game has been postponed to Friday October 18th. The clinic will run from 4:00-6:30 PM on October 18th before the Wildcats Football game at home against Princeton.
Tonight’s North Posey Football game at home with Tecumseh has also been postponed. The Vikings and Braves will play tomorrow at 12:00 PM. Jordan Fisher and Chris Morlan will have the action on the radio tomorrow on 98.9 FM WPIW and online at poseycountyradio.com. Their pregame show gets going at 11:45 AM. The Vikings are 4-1 overall and Tecumseh is 0-5. North Posey Athletics say that the Homecoming ceremony will start at 11:20 AM tomorrow.
All of the SIAC Football games this evening have been moved to tomorrow. Bosse at Memorial will start at 11:00 AM on Saturday. Mater Dei at North will kick off at 12:00 PM…Harrison at Vincennes will also start at 12:00 PM…Castle at Reitz will have a 3:00 PM kickoff…and Jasper at Central will also begin at 3:00 PM.
Grow Poseyville has announced that due to the amount of rain expected this weekend, they are cancelling the kickball tournament on Saturday. They want to thank all of the teams for their support and to the individuals who volunteered to help with the event.
Tomorrow, Bud’s Hardware Store is having their Customer Appreciation Day from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Swing by and sign up for the grand prize, which is a Blackstone Tabletop Griddle and has a value of $199. Little Jimmy’s Italian Ice will be giving away free ices from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM as well.
Family Matters of Posey County is encouraging the community to sign their children up for the 2024 Posey County Christmas Assistance Program. Applications are available at Family Matters, Posey County Trustees Offices, and many county churches. The application deadline is Friday, October 11th.

Last night in local high school sports…North Posey Volleyball lost in straight sets at Tecumseh…North Posey falls to 14-6 on the season…and Vikings Boys Tennis lost 3-1 against North…
The St. Louis Cardinals saw their 4-game winning streak come to an end yesterday as they got beat in Colorado by the Rockies, 10-8. The Cardinals still took 2-of-3 in the series, as they are now 81-78 on the year. St. Louis closes the season out in San Francisco this weekend with a 3-game series against the Giants. Game 1 is tonight at 9:15 PM.
The Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds were both off from game action on Thursday. The Cubs and Reds play each other this weekend in a 3-game set to finish out the season in Chicago. The series begins today at 1:20 PM. The Cubs are 81-78 and the Reds are 76-83.
