Coming up this evening, it’s more high school football postseason action. The North Posey Vikings will be on the road again for round two of the Sectionals as they travel to The Bowl on the west side of Evansville to battle the Mater Dei Wildcats. Kickoff is set for 6:30 PM. Jordan Fisher and Chris Morlan will have the radio broadcast on 98.9 FM WPIW, 106.7 FM WMVI, and online at poseycountyradio.com. Their pregame show will start at 6:15 PM. North Posey is 9-1 and Mater Dei is 3-7.
There are several Halloween events this weekend throughout Posey County. Tomorrow night from 5:00-9:00 PM at Cynthiana Town Park, it’s Halloween in the Park. There will be pumpkin printing, trunk or treat, food, games, and more. For more information, go to Town of Cynthiana Facebook Page.
Also, tomorrow night from 4:00-7:00 PM, New Harmony’s Community Halloween Party is back. It’s at Holy Angels Catholic Community Center. There will be live music, a costume contest, trunk or treat, a photo booth, games, crafts, and prizes.
Then on Sunday, it’s the 12th annual Trunk or Treat event at Saint Francis Xavier Parking Lot. The Saint Wendel and Francis For Youth will provide hotdogs, popcorn, and drinks. Free will donations toward their youth ministry events will also be much appreciated.
Much cooler temperatures will be headed our way next week and the Indiana Department of Homeland Security posted some tips to stay safe during the colder months. They say to teach your children to avoid using a space heater or alternative heating. Create a safe heating zone at home. They also encourage you to plug your heater directly into a wall outlet, keep things that can burn three feet away, and be sure to shut off your heater when you leave home.
Old National Bank is growing and taking on new markets as it acquires a Nashville-based organization, CapStar Financial Holdings. The two companies announced Thursday that Old National will acquire CapStar in an all-stock transaction. Officials say combining the companies will strengthen Old National’s recently formed Nashville presence and add more markets. The merger with CapStar will bring in $3.3 billion in total assets, $2.3 billion in total loans and $2.8 billion in deposits as of September 30, 2023. According to a company spokesperson, CapStar has been recognized as the highest-performing publicly traded Tennessee-based bank by Bank Director each of the past three years.
