Tonight, postseason football gets underway for High School teams across the tri-state with the first round of sectionals. The North Posey Vikings play at Perry Central this evening at 7:00 PM. North Posey is 8-1 and Perry Central is 5-4. Catch the game on 98.9 FM WPIW and online at poseycountyradio.com. Jordan Fisher and Chris Morlan will have the broadcast with the pregame show starting at 6:45 PM.
The Mt. Vernon Wildcats Football team will have to travel to Gibson Southern tonight at 7:00 PM. The Wildcats finished the regular season with a 5-4 record. The Titans went 7-2. The game can be heard on 106.7 FM WMVI and online at poseycountyradio.com. Chris Cooke and Allen Buck will have the call. Their pregame show is at 6:45 PM.
Officials are preparing for a commemoration ceremony this weekend in Mount Vernon honoring the victims of lynchings that took place in 1878. Tomorrow is the one-year anniversary of a project put together by former Mount Vernon High School Student, Sophie Kloppenburg. The project was a memorial bench and historical marker commemorating the scene of seven African American lynchings in Posey County in 1878. The project was a collaboration with the USI College of Liberal Arts Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee. The one-year anniversary event will take place tomorrow at Alexandrian Public Library in Mount Vernon where there will be speakers at 10:00 AM and the ceremony will take place at 6:00 PM.
The annual Poseyville Kiwanis Club’s Punt, Pass, & Kick competition is tomorrow at 9:00 AM at North Posey High School. This competition is open to anyone who will be 8-12 years old as of December 31st, 2023. There is no cost to participate and prizes will be handed out.
North Posey Volleyball plays in the Class 2A Regional at Mitchell High School tomorrow morning. The Vikings, who are 28-6 on the season will play Linton Stockton who is 29-4 on the year at 10:00 AM on Saturday. If North Posey wins that match, they will play the winner of Brownstown Central and South Ripley at 6:00 PM Saturday night. Halloween is less than two weeks away, and USI can help you if you don’t have a costume yet. The Theatre Department’s supply room is overflowing with costumes, so to make room for new ones, students decided to host a sale. There’s vintage clothing, such as steampunk and Victorian dresses, as well as fairy wings and vampire fangs. The clothing sizes range from 0 to 18. The cash-only sale will run from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM on Saturday in the Theatre Support Building parking lot. Officials say the money will benefit the Theatre Department.

The app will help parents access weekly lunch menus, attendance reports, athletic calendars, and stay on top of their student's school day from the comfort of their home or office. All you have to do is search E.V.S.C. in the app store.
The University of Evansville and the University of Southern Indiana are set to face off in a baseball game this Saturday at Bosse Field. This is a charity event to help raise funds for the fight against Friedrich’s Ataxia. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students. You can purchase those at any Banterra Bank location in Evansville or Newburgh. First pitch is at 2:00 PM.
