A boil advisory is still in effect for German Township Water customers located on Old Hwy 62 from Ford Road to West Franklin Road, South to Smith Diamond Road, and East to Posey County Line Road. They say this temporary precautionary measure is recommended due to a water main leak in their distribution system. Updated information regarding the boil advisory will be made available on their website at germantownshipwaterdistrict.org, as well as on the company telephone message system at 812-963-6403.
The Mount Vernon Police Department posted on Facebook yesterday that they received a donation from Marathon Petroleum Corporation of $2500 as a grant to help the agency with updates on the computer and radio communication systems. This is not the first donation as of late to the MVPD. Casey's Convenience Store also recently made a donation as well as Fraternal Order of Eagles.
The Posey County Health Department announced that they will be working with the Deaconess Mobile Mammogram program to provide screening mammograms for any woman from Posey County that does not have insurance, or insurance that does not cover screening mammograms. This has been made possible through funding provided by the Health First Indiana initiative to improve public health throughout the state of Indiana. Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb signed house bill 1086 yesterday. This bill will allow happy hour to return to the state of Indiana. This new bill will allow bars the option to reduce drink prices for up to four hours a day, not to total more than 15 hours in a week and those hours can not be between 9pm and 3am. This new bill will also allow alcohol to-go as long as the seller meets the requirements of properly sealed containers and labeling practices put in place by the bill.
Just a reminder as the tax filling deadlines approach, The Posey County Council on Aging is still providing free tax preparation services to senior citizens in Posey County on Tuesdays. These services to require an appointment. To schedule a time, contact the Posey County Council on Aging at 812-838-4656. All services will be provided by volunteers who have been trained and certified by the IRS. The final day for the free services will be Tuesday April 9th. The tax filling deadline is Monday April 15th.
Mt. Vernon High School, and the Performing Arts department will continue their production of Grease the musical tonight and tomorrow. Shows time tonight and tomorrow will be 7PM as well as a 2PM showing on Saturday. Adult tickets are 10 dollars and student tickets are 5 dollars.
There will be a Ribeye Dinner and Auction taking place tomorrow at the Ribeyre Gymnasium in New Harmony. The cost of the steak dinner will be $25 with an option of a hotdog dinner for $8. All dinners will include potatoes, salad, roll, desert and drink. Serving time is from 4:30 – 6:30. The Silent auction will begin at 4:30 and the live auction at 6:00.
A reminder for North Posey Football fans, The Football auction is taking place tomorrow at the Knights of St John in St Wendel. This sold out event will begin at 4:30. This is the 8th year for the North Posey Football Auction.
And for Mount Vernon Football Fans, the Pops Mt Vernon Football Dinner and Auction is coming up on April 6th. It will take place at the Posey County 4H Center. The event is open to adults 21 and older. This event will include a live and silent auction and dinner catered by Hawn N Sauce. Single tickets are $30 and couples tickets $50. In college basketball last night, the Indiana Hoosiers survived with a 2 point win over Penn State in the Big Ten Tournament. The will take the court again tonight against Nebraska. You can catch the game tonight on 106.7 WMVI with the pregame starting at 7:00.
In other Big Ten Tournament play, the Purdue Boilermakers will take on the Michigan State Spartans today. Game time is scheduled for 11:00 this morning. You can watch that game today on the Big Ten Network.
